[Android] Calibre Companion difference between version 4 and 5

I recently bought a new tablet and it runs Android Marshmallow. I installed Calibre Companion (Version 5) and when I connect to the content server to load books it downloads VERY slowly...it takes almost a minute for each book. I uninstalled the new version of CC and side loaded a backup copy of version 4.3. With the old version the content sever loads books instantly. I am curious to know what changed between version 4 and 5 to make such a radical difference in speed and why such a change was made? Is there a setting in version 5 I can change to make the content server like it was before?

My guess is that you are facing the problem described in this FAQ: [Android] I have added a lot of books and now adding books takes forever. What do I do?.

The changes from V4 to V5 are described in the Change Log.

If you have a device running V4 then you can install that APK on your tablet. Get one of the tools (there are many) that can extract the V4 APK, transfer that file to the tablet, then install it. I should note that V4 is no longer supported. V4 also doesn't have the cloud connection or many bug fixes.

Thanks. Sounds like the 'storage access framework' in Marshmallow may be the cause. I'm saving my books to main memory… not an sd card, but it is slow too. Since switching back to vr 4.3 content server transfers are fast again.
