Sigil for older Windows machines

I know Sigil works fine for Windows 7 32 bit, because that's what I am using. But what about Vista and XP? I find people still using one of those (including my wife, who won't replace her Vista desktop because she doesn't want to have to deal with the thousands of files she has stored on it).

I did search MobileRead, but it seems that one can't restrict a search to the Sigil forum, so most of what comes up is irrelevant.

I still run a Vista machine that runs the latest Sigil just fine. Starting with Sigil 0.9.7, you need Service Pack 2 on Vista and Service Pack 1 on Windows 7 at a minimum.

Sigil's installer hasn't supported XP for a long while now. The switch to Python 3.5 makes any unofficial XP support for Sigil v0.9.7+ very unlikely as well.

Sure one can. One must use the advanced search feature to do so, is all.

Old machines with OLD CPU chips will also have problems: no SSE2 support (old AMD Athelons)

Both of these work for me on Windows 10 and 7, and in other MR forums too
