Looking at this article about Mystery books I was interested in Cutter and Bone by Newton Thornburg, and searching in Amazon I found it is selling for only $0.99 (Kindle edition).

Plus...it was the source for a terrific indie movie in 1981 starring Jeff Bridges and John Heard (title was Cutter's Way). Good Jack Nitzsche score. My recollection was that it was in the theaters for, oh, I don't know, one or two weekends, tops.
