This Boyue T103 looks promising at least as far as screen size and resolution goes.

Sadly no other information seems available. |

I note that the UI looks very much like the Sony DPT-S1 which makes me wonder if this will be PDF only.

According to the report at lesen.net, Boyue only had a non-functional mockup of the T103 at the Frankfurt book fair, and it is still some way from being brought to market. So for the present, there is unlikely to be any more information about the reader.

There seems also to be an 13.3" Onyx Boox Max ereader. See here for some info. Its specs seems to look like those of the Boyue T103, but with a hefty price ticket of about 799 euros its not anybodies cup of tea I guess. However it seems to be generally available in Europe though.

![]() If an organization is releasing a new electronic device today, using Marshmallow (v6) is barely acceptable, and anything older is completely unacceptable. If anything, new devices should be designed for v8, rather than Nougat (v7). Amber |

Google should STOP with all this updating. They are screwing thing up by updating so much in so small a time. But yes, a new device should run the current version of Android.

The updates are as much as to patch known zero day exploits in the wild, as they are to deliver new features, functions, and capabilities to the OS.

As such, I don't object to their updates. OTOH, Verizon, and the other carriers, with their policy of "No OS updates, under any circumstances" is abhorrent, unethical, immoral, and should result in a fine of at least one googol dollars, United States currency. Amber |

AFAIK, no eInk eReader runs anything newer than 4.X.

I've heard it suggested that they are limited to Android implementations that CPU manufacturers (invariably Rockchip or Freescale) have developed for compatibility with eInk controllers, which don't run to anything newer than this. As such, all demands for "Marshmallow"/"the current version of Android" and comparison to mobile carrier updates for smartphones would appear to be completely pie-in-the-sky. |

I'd also add that 5.0+ Android requires quite a lot more processing power for the same basic UI functionality, and still has no support for e-ink screens out of the box.

When we get a "high contrast" mode that pretty much just works with e-ink, then maybe it will be worth the upgrade. Until then? Not really. And you're probably off with a barebones Linux distro running an open source e-book reader app. |
