Unable to update Metadata on Device

I'm unable to update Metadata on my device without deleting the book. It will not read updated data unless I remove the original book. Am I doing something wrong, or is this simply a limitation with the program? Thank you.

The metadata is extracted from the NEW book when it arrives at the device

It ain't a new book, if it is already there

(do people who specify designs ever talk to real userstm ? )
