Corrupted EPUB file?
I've downloaded a sample EPUB3 file, but it cannot be open by ADE 4.5.2, which reports unspecified 'errors'. I thought ADE supports EPUB v3, is it a software bug or the file is indeed corrupt?

Unfortunately, this file (and many other valid epub3 files) won't open with ADE 4.5.2.

I have ADE 4.5.2.151207 and opened without any problem. I suggest you upgrade version.

Try importing it into Calibre and doing an "ePub to ePub" format conversion.

My apologises. I'd overlooked that it was an ePub 3 file. It's probably fair to say that ePub 3 support in mainstream readers - with the possible exception of iBooks - is patchy. It would be as well to stick with ePub 2 unless there's some compelling reason to use ePub 3.

I have exactly the same OS and only recently noticed that some epub3 books failed to load after the latest round of Windows 10 updates. I.e. this is most likely an OS issue.

@Sarmat89: If you have Chrome/Chromium installed try the Readium extension or the standalone Azardi app. Both open your test epub just fine.

I downloaded the attachment and it loaded fine on my Windows 64 bit version 10 running the same 4.5.2 as others have noted.

I downloaded the attachment to my iPad. The EPUB3 file "Moby-Dick" can be opened by (the latest version of) iBooks, Kobo, MapleRead, Hyphen, Marvin 3 and Bluefire Reader. However, they don't behave the same (at least) as far as Table of Contents is concerned. While the first four iOS apps display all the 141 TOC entries, including the 135 chapter titles, the last two apps fail to do so and display an empty TOC.

Why? It's because a different TOC (navigation map) representation is used by EPUB3. Any reader app that claims any EPUB3 support should at least support this new TOC representation. Apparently, two big-company apps (iBooks, Kobo) and two small-team apps (MapleRead, Hyphen) have such basic EPUB3 support, while the other two small-team apps (Marvin 3, Bluefire Reader) don't.

OK, I've found the cause of this.

It turns out you need to have Internet Explorer installed on your system for viewing EPUB3's.
