Kobo Reading Life stats not updating
Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere- I did a search and couldn't find anything.

I've been really enjoying my Kobo Aura One but the reading stats have been quirky. First I read two books in quick succession and for days after the books were completed it still said that I had read zero books on the device. Eventually this updated to show the two books. I have now finished a third one and it has not updated to reflect this (still showing two books completed) and it has been a week or so. All of these books I read to the very end and they showed as 'finished' on the device. The number of hours read seems to be updating appropriately. This is not a major problem but it's bugging me.

Any thoughts? thanks.

Hi everybody,
I wanted to open a thread about this problem but since I found this one I'll reply here.
That bug is still present in 4.0.7523 version?
That is the version I have still with the ZERO books read bug

This bug is ONLY present in firmware 4.0.7523. It will be fixed in the next release.

It actually started in 4.0.7523, so yes, it's still present in that build.

I also expect the firmware for the same reasons
I console myself a little because I received my new protection for kobo one (not official)

Those books you finished before the firmware update don't get rechecked. You could open each book you have finished, skip to the last page and then page forward which (I think) should work to update the number of books read.

I had to return my Kobo one and got another. For the first time in 5 kobos, all my reading stats are gone
But are still in my android app as there. Is there anything i can do?

Ok, new firmware installed and if I turn the last page of a book
the counter now works.
The only problem I see is that it gives me too much reading hour
I bought the aura one last week and I have 41 hours of reading...
How can I fix this?

There isn't really a way. Or at least, no good way.

The stats are stored in the database on the device. There are stats stored for each book. For each book you read, the hours read are stored, but they are stored in a way that I have not deciphered. You can reset the stats by deleting all the rows in the database table. Or delete the rows for a book to reset its stats. You can do this easily with a little SQL and an SQLite management to to run the queries.

How sure are you that the 41 hours is wrong? Whenever I have looked at it, the reading hours for any book seems to be about right. They are probably a little high, as I don't know how it counts the end time if the device goes to sleep due to the time. I have this set to 15 minutes, so there might be 15 minutes each time it automatically goes to sleep included when I am not actually reading. But, I hope it doesn't include all of that time.

Stats for each book
And while mentioning the stats, the reading stats accessed from the home page are only for the current book. And if you finish a book, you can't look at them later. But, there is an unsupported option to do this.

To the configuration file, add:

BookSpecificStats=true
Do this using an editor that respects Unux line ends. On Windows, DO NOT USE NOTEPAD. I recommend Notepad++ for all you text editing needs.

It is possible the "FeatureSettings" section is already the file, so just add the other line after it.

With this, when you long press on a book in the library lists, there will be an extra menu item. This is "Reading stats". Selecting it will display the "Reading stats" page and the top section will be the stats for the selected book.

It also counts the reading time if you just leave it on while a book is open. For example, I've set mine to never automatically go to sleep or power off (when I'm done reading, I either close the sleep cover or turn it off manually) and one night I forgot to close the cover before I fell asleep and the book was left open. When I woke up, 10 hours were added to my reading time. So it could have been something like that.
