Calibre GUI Not Starting (Linux)

I can't get Calibre to start. I downgraded to 2.65 and it loads fine, but no version above that will load. Here's the debug output:

You are presumably using some kind of broken vnc server. Use a decent one, like x11vnc or tigervnc and you will be fine.

I'm not using VNC, I'm directly on X with Openbox.

Those are all errors talking to the X server. If it is not a broken vnc, then something is wrong with either your graphics drivers or X server installation.

I did a reinstall, and it's still not loading. The error is a little different, but probably the same problem. I'm going to submit a bug report on Archlinux, since it may be a missing dependency or something.

I found http://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux and tried it and it worked, so it must be something Archlinux specific.

I've gotten the same errors recently trying to run Calibre remotely (start an X server on one box, ssh into another box with X forwarding enabled, and run Calibre on the remote box). This suggests a possible Qt bug:

If I invoke Calibre with the following:

QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO=1 nohup calibre &

it fires up and runs like it should.

(The remote system is Gentoo Linux. The local system is Windows 7 SP1 with Cygwin.)
