Help: What Is the Fastest Way to Synchronize two Separate Readers?
Help: What Is the Fastest Way to Synchronize two Separate Readers?
I would be extremely grateful if someone could suggest a faster scheme to synchronize two separate readers so that they both have the identical books on them. Please assume that you have a large number of books (your main library) on your computer, in a main library. You have a Nook reader with 100 + books on it. You just received a new (empty) Kindle reader and you want the new Kindle reader to have the exact same books on it that the Nook already does. I am unaware of any Sorting flag you can set (in the main library) for books, similar to the date, the on-mobile-device, the title, the author, etc.. if there is one, then I would appreciate your replying to this message and telling me how to set it. That would negate the rest of this post. Ideally, you could attach the Nook, sort your main library by books that are currently on the Nook, then set a flag for those books, detach the Nook, attach the (new and empty) Kindle reader, and then simply copy those marked books over to the Kindle's main memory. At the present time I use the following scheme. I would appreciate any suggestions from anyone on speeding this up. I connect the Nook which already has 100+ books on it. I then highlight all of those books (currently on the Nook) and copy them to a separate directory. I then create a new empty library in a brand-new location. I then import all of the books that were saved to the separate directory into the brand-new library. I then attach the Kindle (the new empty reader). I then copy and transform if necessary all of the books in the new library to the new reader. Is there a simpler way to do this? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this, and replying if you choose to do so. JG |

Attach your nook, type ondevice:true in the search bar, select all books, Press Ctrl+M. Detach your nook, attach your Kindle, type marked:true in the search bar, select all books, send to kindle.

Fastest way is to use Calibre and create a separate library of what you want on both readers. Takes 10 minutes or less. Create library. Connect your Nook. Go to the main library. Sort ON DEVICE column which groups what is already on the Nook. Transfer a copy of everything checked to the new library. Now disconnect Nook. Connect Kindle. Upload it all. You only have to keep this 'reader' library up-to-date. As you read stuff, delete it directly on your device OR do the reverse. Delete the items you have read in the new library. Connect your device and open that new library. Select the device. SORT. Delete everything that isn't checked.
I do this periodically as I take a different ereader when I go care for a relative than what I use at home. I MUST use something with a light in it since he has very poor lighting. Keep in mind that while this will work for 1000 plus books, the indexing will take much longer and drain your unit faster than you would normally expect. This is especially true if it hangs up part way on a single book. Last edited by Tarana; 09-22-2016 at 11:37 AM. |

My method is using the Reading List plugin.
For each of my ereaders, I have a send-on-connect reading list. For a new device, I would first create the reading list. Then I would connect the old device, select all the books on it and add them to the reading list for the new device. Then when I connect the new device, all the books are automatically sent to it. I keep the reading lists for later syncing. For a new book, I decide which devices I want the book on and add it to the appropriate reading list. When I connect the device, the books are automatically sent. |
