Preferences - Menubar

I was editing the Preferences to change the appearance of the Main Menu, when I decided to explore the options as to which other menus I could change.

I spotted that I could edit the "Menubar", except I did not know what the "Menubar" is. So I added an icon which I knew I didn't have anywhere else, applied, then exited out. But I still could not see it anywhere!

Can anyone tell me where I find this "Menubar"

At the top of the Calibre window, above your Main Toolbar

Wow. Thanks for the prompt (and more importantly, helpful) reply.

That explains why I couldn't find it. Its not displayed on my set up.

Looks like another trip to the preferences.

If you want to get rid of the icons on the toolbar, set Preferences=>Look and Feel->Icon Size to Off, et voilà

I dunno why I have all those items in there - I only ever click on one or two of them, I use kb shortcuts or the context menu for most things.

I just realised, I mustn't like horizontal toolbars - my taskbar is vertical, my browser toolbar is vertical, I've swung the calibre viewer toolbar to left edge etc. But I love ribbons, providing they're hidden. Weird

If you are on a mac for a ubuntu unity desktop the menubar is displayed at the top of the screen, not inside the calibre window.

Thanks for all the responses. I am on a PC, but others of course may not be.

I'd never looked at setting Icons Size to "Off". I had changed it to small, but never considered "off".

This enquiry has led me to watch one of the Training vids, and I've just made a "user Category" for "favourite Authors". That's also a big help.

So its been a useful enquiry.
