Use Editor to Make AZW Periodicals?

I was wondering if there was a way to use the editor to make a AZW load in the periodical format like the files generated by the News Recipes?

I apologize if this has been answered, or should have been in the conversion section?

Thank you in advance.

No. Periodicals are MOBI-only, and also have specific markup which is only generated by the News subsystem.

Anyone know what the likelihood would be of this feature being added?

Never. The editor is never going to be able to edit MOBI files (only AZW3) and periodicals have to be MOBI files.

Thank you @kovidgoyal, that makes sense. That being the case is there any chance that the feature could be added to the converter? Is it reasonable to be able to convert a standard TOC to the format needed for periodicals, or is there something about an RSS feed that makes the news fetching system the only way to create a periodical?

Periodicals require ToCs to have a certain structure, so general books cannot be converted to them. But provided the book has the correct ToC structure, it can be done, however, it is not something I am interested in implementing. Patches are welcome.

Unfortunately I do not have that kind of skill at programming, but thank you for the explanation and the Calibre suite of tools in general, they are fantastic.
