InstaFreebie's "Freebie Friday" Offerings for Today.

Fridays mean different things to different people. To me, one of the things that it means is that there are often several once-a-week ebook freebies to be had.

Instafreebie's blog has announced the slate of free ebooks in their "Freebie Friday" promotion. I'll list the title, with the genre/subgenre following each title, of most of them, below.

Whisper Gatherers. By Nicola McDonagh. Action/Adventure.
Eat Less and Move More: My Journey. By Paul G. Brodie. Biography.
The Goose that Laid Golden Easter Eggs. By Emily Martha Sorensen. Childen's.
Sixth Street Love Affair. By Liz Isaacson. Contemporary.
This Doesn't Happen in the Movies. By Renee Pawlish. Crime.
Siren's Kiss. By Margo Bond Collins. Fantasy.
Welcome to the Hotel Yalta. By Victoria Doughterty. Historical Fiction.
The Gorge. By Scott Nicholson. Horror.
Mission: Improbable. By J.J. Green. Humor.
The Soul Summoner. By Elicia Hyder. Mystery.
First Blade. By Jane Hinchey. Paranormal.
Pennies. By Pepper Winters.
Razor's War, Episode 1. By Nick S. Thomas. SciFi.
The Amber Project. By J.N. Chaney. Teen & YA.
Exhale. By Laxmi Hariharan. Women's Fiction.

On the one book that I tested, the book was available in mobi, ePub, and PDF formats.

In large part due to the fact that the overwhelming majority of these books are fiction of some kind, and that I know almost nothing about fiction books, I can't speak to the quality of these books. Perhaps someone--maybe more than one--would make a post commenting on that?

Here's the URL of the link to the "Freebie Friday" offerings.

You missed Fire and Ice by Patty Jansen.
Let me look up something.
I am back.
Scott Nicholson is 99 cents at Amazon.
Both Paul Brodie and Patty Jansen are free at Amazon.
I didn't look any farther.
It appears most of these books are self-published.
I can attest that Patty and Scott are both high quality writers.
Not sure about the others.

You know, I like that Instafreebie gives away books. I don't even mind that this often gets you put on the author's mailing list (you can always unsubscribe). But I would like a freaking blurb to tell me what the book is about!

Some of these books are available free on Amazon (and probably elsewhere). So if you don't want to give away your E-mail address, check your favorite e-book provider.

I like their "service", I'm on their mailing list and get daily "free" ebook offers. Most of the days the are themed.

Only thing I have a gripe with is them replacing the books description with the name you supply, but calibre is capable to fix this.

I believe the Nicholson at Amazon is a Screenplay version, not the novel. The paperback is $12 and I don't see a Kindle edition for it at all. Some authors do that for the Insta-freebie, as they don't want to violate their amazon contracts or have amazon drop their price to zero there.

Scott Nicholoson hasn't even updated his own web page with this information about 'The Gorge.'

Apparently, it has a new title, "They Hunger," - or that may be the old title. Who knows? Maybe even he doesn't know.

Too, it may have been pulled due to the thing possibly going into production.

The cover on that instafreebie, by the way, is not the cover for the screenplay ebook.

However, I have "The Gorge," with yet another and different cover. My ebook is as old as the hills, and I have no idea where or how I got it, as I wasn't keeping track of that kind of information 5 years ago.

ADDED: It looks as if "The Gorge" is the "author's preferred edition of 'They Hunger.'"

Regardless [yawn], the thing's been pulled and is no longer available as an ebook from Amazon USA.

InstaFreebie's "Freebie Friday" Offerings for Today.

I posted, last week, many of the freebies from last Friday's InstaFreebie's blog's Freebie Friday promotion. Without taking time to go back and check, I think that I got some positive reactions. So, it seems that it might be worthwhile to some of you for me to post now most of today's freebies. By far the great majority of the titles are in some subgenre of fiction.

I know almost nothing about any of the following books because, again, by far the great majority of the titles are in some subgenre of fiction, and I know almost nothing about contemporary (especially) fiction. I hope that there are some good books among the selection.

A heads-up: all of the books that I spot checked 1) required you to give your name and an email address (nope, you can't use a bogus one because they email a confirmation to you at that address), 2) are available in all of your favorite flavors--ePub, mobi, and PDF, and 3) let you know to expect to be put on the author's newsletter mailing list.

Hilary Thompson. Stian's Mistake. Action/Adventure.
Brian Paone. Dreams Are Unfinished: Thoughts. Biography.
L.R.W. Lee. Blast of the Dragon's Fury. Children's.
JoMarie DeGioia. Welcome to Cypress Corners. Contemporary.
G.W. Boileau. Vanished. Crime.
O'Flynn, Corinne. Song of the Sending. Fantasy.
Warren Adler. Mother Nile. Historical Fiction.
Cynthia Luhrs. Knight Moves. Historical Romance.
Karsak, Melanie. The Harvesting. Horror.
Michele Bardsley. Lycan on the Edge. Humor.
Lynn Emery. A Darker Shade of Midnight. Mystery.
Slate, Rachael. Matching Dragons. Paranormal.
Jen Doyle. Last Call. Romance.
Mark K. Kelly. Altered Genes. Sci-Fi.
Kristi Patrice Carter. Learning to Love Myself As I Am. Self Help.
Robin Patchen. Finding Amanda. Spiritual/Religious [and Suspense. I happened to notice that it has 4.8 stars from 55 reviews there, at the present moment].
Selina Fenech. Memory's Wake. Teen & YA.
Michael Ross Ault. Eli's Story. Thriller.
Alix Nichols. You're the One. Women's Fiction.

Oh yeah. Every time that you request a download, offers for at least a couple of other free ebooks will appear. None of them that I saw were on the list from which I got the titles above. They don't seem to be related in subject to the title that you requested--it seems to operate on some rotational or random system.

Linkage.

That's why I have now unsubscribed from most of those pesky, insistent email lists from that service.

I now have - let us say it right up front, so there is no ambiguity whatsoever - less CRAP from them.

LESS CRAP

In these situations I like to use ThrowAwayMail. You can send and receive e-mails for 2 days, so even if there is a "verify" email I'm covered.

I have an email alias just for book newsletters because I get a ton of them. I use this to send the free books to. I haven't got any extra mail from just signing up for instafreebie alerts so I use my mobile email for it but use another to send the books to which sometimes requires agreeing to get mail from authors.

I've gotten a couple of e-mails from authors of the instafreebies I got a month or two ago. It's not a lot, but some of the authors definitely take advantage of it.
