i recently got an LG Viewty telephone. i wanted to install some ebooks on it from booksinmyphone.com. they are packaged as java apps and i had no trouble installing them previously on my old sony ericsson phone by copying them to the memory card, then allowing the phone to install them.
to my intense irritation, i discover that the viewty is not recognized as a flash drive when it is connected via usb to the computer (not even the memory card) and i must use a rather poorly designed interface to transfer files back and forth, and worse than that apparently there is no way to install java apps copied into the "games and applications" folder (internal memory or memory card). when i navigate to this folder using the telephone interface the files are not even visible. if i navigate using the desktop application interface, the files are visible, but when i double click i get an error message "format not supported" (on .jad or .jar). the website mentions that some phones do not allow java installs, and recommends a java uploader from the site http://game-thing.com/, but this site appears to be down. does anybody know of a java uploader for lg phones, or any other way to install these apps ? i couldn't find anything via google except sites which propose to upload their own games, which i don't want. i'm really sad not to be able to read in the métro since i switched phones !! |
