Kobo Aura H2O not compatible with Windows 10????
My new Kobo Aura H20 arrived today. When I hooked it up to my laptop via the provided micro USB cable, it shows as a drive in File Explorer but I get a message that I have to insert a disk in the drive. It is not recognized by Adobe Digital Editions or Calibre and I can't load books to the reader via my computer.
I tried a factory reset, turning the reader off and on again. Tried it on two different laptops (both running Windows 10) and tried using three different micro USB cables. I called customer service and was informed that the reader is not compatible with Windows 10. There was no mention of this on the Kobo store website where I purchased it. I'm asking for a complete refund. Has anyone else found this to be true? Is the Customer Service rep correct, it's not compatible with Windows 10? I find that hard to believe. I was willing to try a replacement thinking it was just a bad unit. But he said no, its a compatibility issue. BTW, Kobo Customer Service is NOT Amazon! They're making me jump through hoops, sending pictures of the front, back, and usb connection and the receipt. I still don't have a decision from up above about a refund. Not a good experience! |

I have an H2O and yes, it is compatible with Windows 10. But, there is a bug in Windows 10 Anniversary Edition that doesn't properly read the H2O. The bug is fixed in the Insider release. So the thinking is that this may be fixed sometime in September.
Read the following thread in its entirety as it does have a solution that will work with Windows 10AU. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=276349 Last edited by JSWolf; 08-19-2016 at 10:40 PM. |

This probably means your Windows machine has updated to the "Anniversary Update". MS has changed something in that breaks the connection to Kobo device. This is discussed in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=276349. That includes some workarounds. MS have fixed the problem, but the release probably won't be until some time in September.

So, since I don't have the anniversary edition, what are my options?

Do you have any other PC, ideally one on Windows 7 that you can test the kobo with. I bought a GLO HD last year that wasn't recognised by my W7 PC, it's possible it's a faulty device especially as you don't have the Aniversaty edition.
In my case I got a refund and bought another one which was fine. |

Same result but with a different message. Says I have to format the disk before using it. Still not recognized by Kobo app, Calibre, or Digital Editions. |

I suggest doing a factory reset. There have been a occasional device that doesn't connect out of the box, but is OK after the factory reset. If it doesn't connect properly after that, it is probably faulty and you should take it back. |

At this point, the only conclusion is that it is faulty. You should return it and get a replacement. |

It does sound like a hardware issue but one question: have you tried a different USB CORD? You've covered ports since you've tried a different computer, but it could be the cord itself that's faulty. Otherwise I'd agree that it's probably the device.
