.azw2 apps on recent kindles
.azw2 apps like aren't supposed to be working on new gen kindles like KOA/KT3... right?
So, I was surprised when an old .azw2 app: "KindCalc" worked ootb on my jailbroken KT3! Just copied the .azw2 file over to /mnt/us/documents. Didn't even have to do the "merged keystore" stuff that was required when I installed this on my PW1. Link to KindCalc thread What is it about this app that makes it work (on the KT3 and maybe on KOA too...) when other apps(.azw2) don't? |

The merged keystore was installed by the 'hotfix' package.
What firmware version are you running on your KT3? It is pure java - it should not be working. ![]() Go beat it with a big stick until it stops - bad software, working when it shouldn't. |

Those 'factory initial' images where never suppose to be seen outside of the factory. So all bets are off on the things you will find in them (features too good for the common customer, etc.). |

Now that the new jailbreak is hot, I wonder if the free Amazon Active Content, that was available up to PW2, can be installed on the newer models, basic or pw. The main reason is that I grew fond of my Active Content (free or purchased) and I don't want to lose it all when my PW2 dies on me. So, any ideas on how to get the free attached app running on a newer jb device?

No, the API is entirely gone.
