Increased battery drain with iOS 9.3.3

I updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 9.3.3 a few days ago and dice then I've noticed that the battery seems to be draining significantly more quickly. I charge my phone every morning, and normally when I do so the matter is at around 70% charge. Since I've updated, though, it's been down to 50% when I've put it on charge.

Has anyone else noticed this?

No problems here so far. I've been using my phone pretty heavily the past few months so get quite a bit of drain over the course of the day, but it hasn't been any worse (or better) since 9.3.3

Thanks, Brian. It could just be that I've been using my phone more than usual. I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes. Battery app says that Safari is using 80% of the power, which is normal for me.

Sometime when you have battery drain like that, doing a hard reset will fix the issue. Basically it's some app run rogue and a hard reset will flush the system.

I've had severe battery drain since about the 9.3.1 update. And Pokémon Go doesn't help... Sigh.

No, as I said, the battery app shows that it's Safari which has used 80% of the power. No rogue apps.

There is no law that says that Safari can't go rogue. For that matter, there is no law that says a rogue app has to show up on the battery app. Either way, I've had battery drains in the past and that fixed it for me. It's totally up to you if you want to try it or not. I've had no such issues with the latest and greatest updates and heard of no generic battery drain issues with 9.3.3, which I've been running for a while, so I don't think it's the update.

One other thing to be aware of is that sometimes the batteries start to swell. I have a no-SIM iPhone 6 plus that I use as an iTouch. I cracked the screen about a year ago and finally took it in for repair a month ago. It turned out that in addition to the cracked screen, the battery was starting to swell. Apple replaced the battery under warranty. Not saying that is the case for you, but if you notice significant degradation in the battery life going forward, that might be what's going on.

I'm sorry, I should have stated that I have of course rebooted the device That's the first thing I'd always do when strange things occur.

Harry I did not experience any battery issues under 9.3.3. But just FYI, 9.3.4 was released yesterday so you might load it to see if it helps your situation.

I've now upgraded to 9.3.4, so I'll see if that makes any difference. Thanks for pointing it out!

Fair enough. I'm in IT and I have to do enough trouble shooting for the technically unsophisticated that I tend to point out the obvious first. My 87 year old father thinks that when the screen go dark, that's the same as powering off. I've had more that one computer/printer that wouldn't turn on that when I physically visited the site, turn out not to be plugged in. (power strip not turn on is another favorite).

I once went to service a computer that wasn't turning on. The person who took the call asked if the computer was plugged in and was anther socket tried. Both answers were yes. When I got there and diagnosed the problem, it was a bad socket on a power bar. It was not tried in another socket. A totally wasted trip.
