Question Please help with virtual libraries and custom filters/categories

Hi. I created a new column in my Calibre library called "To-Read List" which consists of two values, either "yes" or "no". The "yes" books are the ones I want to mark as part of my list of titles I'd like to read in the near future.

Anyway, I've tried creating a virtual library that only shows the "yes" books of my custom "To-Read List" column, but have been unsuccessful so far. Is it even possible to create a virtual library using that criterion? Or are we supposed to stick to the default alternatives (Authors, Tags, Publishers, etc.)?

Thanks, I read that and I still wasn't sure how to do it. What I ended up doing—not sure if it's the best way or not—was save a search and use it as the criterion for this virtual library: search:"#toread:yes"

That seemed to do the trick, I think.

"#toread:yes" <== the correct search to use.

Virtual libraries are really just searches used to partition the library into multiple virtual ones.

No need to first save it as a search and then use the search in the virtual library.
But yes, what you did is essentially the way to do it.
