Nook Books FROM Nook/iPad Nook to Calibre/Mac

Hi All,

Sorry for the redundancy. I'm sure the answer is here, somewhere, but I can't find it:

I have a large Nook Book Library on the B&N cloud. I used to use Nook PC to download and transfer these books to Calibre. My PC is becoming unreliable, and I have replaced it with a Mac. Now I am looking for a way to download from B&N cloud into Calibre on the Mac.

I can't get the old copies of Nook Mac to run on my machine; that was my first route.

I am now trying to download books from Nook/iPad to Calibre/Mac. No success yet, but believe this should be possible.

How to download Nook Books FROM Nook/iPad to Calibre/Mac?????????

Thanks.

MAC's ! Gimme a PC any day

I suspect you have a DRM interaction to boot.
For that, you need to run a Windows emulator with the B&N software needed

once that runs, See Apprentice Alf for help eliminating future pain

Thank you for your reply, "theducks", although I don't understand any of it. I don't have any issues with DRM. That is the easy part. I'm having problems getting B&N books from their cloud.

B&N does not offer software for Mac OR PC to read their books; only iPad and Android.

How to get B&N books from their cloud into my computer? That is the question.

As far as I can tell, the only way to download from B&N is to:
1. Nook Device
2. iPad/iPhone via iOS app
3. Android device via Android app

So, my problem is: How to transfer FROM one of these into Calibre?

Of course, if there are other methods of downloading from B&N, please tell me. I know they used to offer PC software and Mac software, but those programs are no longer available.

If you can't get the old Nook for Mac app to run/install, perhaps NookStudy for Mac will work?

Alternatively I'm not sure if the GreaseMonkey script still works or not since they redid their website.

Thanks, "AnemicOak", for your thoughts:

I found a download site for Nook Study 2, and have it installed. When I tried to log in with my B&N credentials, I got "Internal error: Failed to retrieve Adobe account".

I don't know what Adobe has to do with it, but thought maybe I need ADE installed, so did that. Got my Mac "Authorized".

Tried to log in with Nook Study: Same error, "Internal error: Failed to retrieve Adobe account".

Anybody have thoughts?

The underlying DRM B&N uses is Adobe's Adept DRM with a different key setup than other Adobe DRM'd books. Don't know how or why it would need your Adobe account though as it's a totally separate thing from Nook.

It appears a few others are having Nook Study problems now on new installs too so maybe it just won't work anymore although my old PC install is still working (for now at least).

Someone on Apprentice Alf's blog night have some other ideas.
