Duplicate books being added by Calibre
I have worked with Calibre for many years and have never needed to ask a question, but this is a strange one.
First off I'm using Calibre 2.60 64 bit on a W 10 operating system. The problem I'm encountering is a message stating I have a duplicate and the file I'm trying to modify the settings on, such as text. If before I try doing this, there is only one file. If I deleted the duplicate, get out and back in there is only one book with that name. It's not until I select that file to modify it that this message this message appears and so does the duplicate book. I have no problem with this happening with ebups I have gather over the years, only the last 3 books I have added since I've upgraded Calibre to 2.60 recently. |

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. Are you talking about the editor? OR adding books to the main calibre book list?

Please post the actual error message - if it's a calibre message it will have a "Copy to clipboard" button.

There is no error message number.
I get a popup that states"Duplicate Found" Books with the same titles as the following already exist in Calibre. Select which books you want to added anyway. I then stop it at that point and close that message box. then I go and find that duplicate and delete it. I close Calibre 2.60 (64 Bit). When I open it again I search to make sure there isn't 2 showing in the list of books and there isn't just the one, but the next time I try to open it, I get the same message again and there is now 2 of them again. I had been using 1.9 and decided it was time to upgrade. All the books I had in 1.9 work fine, but I'm having this problem since I've upgraded to 2.60 and tried to open the books I have just installed in it. ![]() |

You have likely made calibre your default program for opening EPUB files and removed the preference to view EPUB files int he viewer. Which means that when you try to view the file in calibre it is re-added to calibre. Go to Preferences->Behavior and make sure EPUB and TXT are ticked under the section "Use internal viewer for"

Thanks and new problem
That fixed it and it's working fine, however I had something happen tonight, that has never happened in the many years I have been using it.
I was sorting though my list of books when suddenly all the books cover pages were changed from an original cover to a bland looking cover that you can't even read the title of the book. On some of the books I was able to open the book and replace the new cover with the old, other I haven't been able to do anything that will let the old cover be reinstalled. Also from what I've encountered, that is no way to do a batch change. I can only do one at a time and I have to get out of Calbre and then back in to do another book. |

@covair65 - maybe you selected all books, and in Bulk Metadata Edit you set one of the Change Cover radio buttons ?
