Hello friends,
![]() I'm interested in purchasing the Inkbook obsidian or the Boyue T63 (now known as the JDRead). I particularly like the idea of having a flush bezel and a device that is less locked down than the Voyage. I have looked at Kobo but I'm not sure if they are worth it and aside from the Aura (discontinued where I live) they do not have a flush bezel. The Inkbook has the advantage of being from a European company (so easier to purchase and get a UI in a western language) but the logo on the front is a bit obnoxious. I live in France if that is relevant. Apologies if this has been answered before but I was unable to find a corresponding thread more recent than 2015. I'm also looking at the Kepler but the buttons look a little awkward. If you know of any other models or any information that might help me, please do not hesitate to alert me! I look forward to your advice, and especially to testimonies of people who have used these devices themselves. |

I just got the Obsidian - I like the page turn buttons. They are just a tad better than the first Nook wifi, but if you read while you are eating, it keeps greasy paws off the screen.
The flat bezel keeps the crumbs out, too. You can adjust lights. The flat bezel also keeps out cat hair. My cat likes to read along and she sheds. I found what came on it adequate. I can read all the books I had stashed, and can transfer them from the computer through a couple of methods since it does use a micro SD card. I'm not sure where the appmarket the inkBOOk uses is located. The book itself is Polish and has many languages. I'm finding it a big plus NOT to have Google on the device. I refuse to buy books from Google. I think the appmarket might be a standard for non-Google play devices. I had Chinese Coby tablets with no Google and no problem. It does have other readers in the repository, and they are the standard ones like FB, Cool, Aldiko, Moon. Compared to a tablet, it's much clunkier and slower than my phone or Tab4. It might not have all the niceties of the branded readers, but it is doing just fine for me. HTH Last edited by Alpha o; 06-22-2016 at 08:47 AM. |

Would the Tolino range interest you?
The Tolino Vision 3HD has a flush bezel, and 300dpi. Although it is linked to the Tolino bookstore, it is fine for side-loading epubs. (Reviews suggest it is awful using it with PDFs). (Actually, I should be receiving one in the next 14 days on test) |

From what I have read, there is root for this device, so there is no problem to side-load other reading apps of your choice |

If you have Adobe ADE on your computer, you can link the Obisidian and get Adobe for PDF.

The official price is 129€, but you can found it on Amazon.ES for 119€, pretty close to the 115€ at Amazon.DE for the Obsidian. |
