Marvin 3.0 and Backups
Is it possible to backup Marvin 3.0 to cloud storage (such as Dropbox), and then restore Marvin from that backup file?
I have tried restoring Marvin 3.0 from a backup file I saved to Dropbox by downloading the backup file within the Dropbox app, then exporting it to Marvin 3.0. So far I have been unable to get this to work. I must be missing something if this is still possible. If it is possible, could someone provide instructions on how to do that? Thanks! |

It should work precisely the way you described it. What is happening when you send the backup file from the Dropbox app to Marvin?

After I select Copy to Marvin 3 from the export dialogue box in Dropbox, I get a message that reads "Exporting". After about 30 seconds Marvin 3.0 opens, however, none of my books or settings have been imported.
A couple of notes. I am attempting to restore using the .m3backup file that was created using Marvin 3.0. Upon opening Marvin 3.0, after the failed export, I do have "All Your Books" selected for my library and no books are showing. The backup I created was done on an iPad Air (first generation), and I'm attempting to import the backup into the same iPad Air. Thanks for your help! |

You're missing a step. After you're switched back to Marvin you should see a message that the backup is received. Now just go to Settings, General, Backup and Restore, and restore it from there.

I believe I have figured out what I was doing wrong.
When I saved the backup to my Dropbox folder I was renaming the file name to include the date, for instance "marvin06212016.m3backup". This was something I was doing for Marvin 2 because I kept multiple backup files (just in case). However, Marvin 3.0 appears to only recognize the file name marvin.m3backup. Thanks for you help! |
