Thumbnails On Kindle Paperwhite

Hello

When I sideload ebooks, although they have a cover, the cover won't display on the Kindle Paperwhite. All I get's a standard Kindle blank thumbnail with the name of the book. I load booked as AZW format. Please can someone advise me as to how I can make the ebook cover appear and not a blank thumbnail. Many thanks.

  1. Did you use calibre's Send-to-Device, or did you copy via the File Browser? You should be using Send-to-Device.
  2. There is no such thing as AZW, although that is commonly used when people really mean MOBI. Are you sideloading MOBI files, or AZW3? When converting from EPUB, it is preferable to convert to the newer and improved AZW3 rather than the legacy MOBI format.
  3. Does the book show up on the Kindle as a Personal Document rather than a regular book?

When using Send-to-Device calibre will sideload the thumbnail together with the book, in addition to embedding the current calibre metadata (including cover images) inside the sideloaded AZW3.

Thank you so much for your help. Have used Send to Device for my books and now the thumbnails appear. Got my Kindle Paperwhite last year and enjoy the thumbnail feature so was not happy when a blank cover showed. Thank you again!!!
