Cybook Gen 3 is dead, need a new reader

I have had the Cybook Gen3 for almost 7 years now and read through many many books. It is dying and need to replace it. What I would need is:
- 6 inch reader
- light which can be turned off
- buttons for page changes (forward and backward)
- choose font and font size
- maybe waterproof
- available in the EU
other than that I prepare what I read in Calibre and transfer it through USB cable so I do not need any wifi/access to stores etc. Also I have got used to not using a touch screen, so I do not really care about it.
Can you suggest anything?

Onyx makes ereaders which fill every requirement except waterproof. So does Pocketbook.

I do not know of a retailer who carries them in Europe, though.

Kobo ereaders can fill every requirement except page turn buttons, and can be bought from the various Kobo stores in Europe as well as from many electronics retailers.

I'm sorry that your ebook reader is ancient history, but.....well, it actually IS ancient history.

The new generation of ebook readers are a joy to read on.

I wish you look in your search.

The new Onyx Boox Kepler Pro should fill all of your stated requirements when it hits the shelves.
Can you nurse your present reader along for a few more months?

How do Cybook and Pocketbook compare to a general use Android tablet? I have FB reader on an old Acer A500. Trouble is, it's a 10.2" tablet and heavy with screen glare.
I have FB reader set up to show the file tree on the card and nothing else. No cutesy shelves or graphics.

I don't particularly need Google, but do need wifi and sd card. I also want an e-ink screen. I've had a non-google tablet and got apps from Amazon.

I see some readers in Amazon UK that look interesting - kid lives in UK, send to her, have her rebox or whatever and send to me.

I did look at the comparison list but the last post was 2011. Not much help with the new ereaders.

I don't like Kindle's controlled world, Don't like B&N, and Kobo is following Kindle.

I'm one of those who usually want LESS than more.

I am between Kobo Glo HD and the Bookeen Cybook Muse Frontlight.
The first one supports both epub and mobi, the cybook has hardware buttons and is 20 euros cheaper...
What do you think?

The Mobi support on the Kobo is very bad. Don't buy one on the assumption that you're going to be able to use it to read Mobi books. You're not. Epub is the format that the Kobo really supports. Everything else is just advertising "fluff".

I don't know how much you're factoring Mobi support into your decision. Just be aware that Kobo's Mobi support is considered poor (I don't think they've done anything with it in years) by a lot of people who've tried it. AFAIK most end up converting their Mobi's to ePub (or kePub) instead of using the Kobo's Mobi rendering.

My current library is in mobi format and in calibre as well apart from the cybook gen3...I guess it will be easier to just convert everything in epub in the pc and copy back to the new reader.
Do you know if both support folders structure and copy/paste from the pc?

The word mobi these days means different things to different people. When a third party (not Amazon) says mobi they mean the old mobi format of time gone past. At least as far back as KF7 and perhaps KF6. Certainly not KF8 which had nothing to do with mobipocket, the company that developed mobi.

A stock Kobo does not use a folder structure interface. I believe if you install a third party reader like KOReader on the Kobo it uses folders.

Not sure about the Muse specifically, but I know earlier Cybooks do.

Both support copying from the PC using either the file manager or Calibre.

No, the firmware does support a folder structure, it just doesn't display it in the library lists. You can put the books almost anywhere, the firmware will find it, add the details to the internal database and display those details when you are looking for the book.

AnemicOak didn't say "folder structure", he said "folder structure interface".

So you just said "no", and then went and repeated what he said.

Hmm, I missed the word "interface". But AnemicOak's reply was to a question about "folder structure". That didn't specify if it was on the disk or in the interface. And AnemicOak's response didn't say anything about the file system. So, I feel OK with my response

Thank you for your help.
I will place an order for the cybook muse frontlight.
Anyhow, all these years I just copied books in the reader and read them, so new additions like wifi etc. will be used only for over the air firmware upgrades. Now that I think of it I have never listened to even 1 mp3 in cybook gen3, which is something supported. When I first got it, it was for traveling only, I could never give up printed books I said. Well in the first 6 months I read the books I had already bought in paper, electronically and that was it from then on. Ebook readers are amazing...the frontlight will also spare the need for the night lamp besides my bed, or the top lamp in an airplane...what more is there to ask for, for reading books!
