Is this True? 300 ppi is the best the Human Eye can see?

I am always picking up manuals for my devices. I got another on yesterday for my Fire Phone & Found this in it:

However, it is important to note that the human eye can’t easily distinguish anything above 300 ppi. This means that you aren’t likely to notice the difference in saturation or clarity .....

I thought I post it see what others think/know. 1 I Not a eye Doctor 2 Not -Techy

IF this is it then I don't see how anyone can improve on whats out there as far as reading experience goes.

It depends on the distance you're holding the device/printed material. This article explains it all in pretty good depth. At four inches from the eye (closest most adults can focus), the max is actually 2,190 dpi. At one foot, it's 720dpi, but 300dpi at that distance is the max that the average person can really distinguish.

So 300dpi is definitely not the absolute max.

It's probably worth remembering that they're talking about the average human eye and not you or me. Also, sometimes things that we can't apparently perceive can still effect us. I once saw Paul Simon on some TV Show, decades ago, explaining some of the things that go into composing music. He composed a little song with the help of the show host and explained what he was doing as he did it. At one point he added a note and commented that very few people will recognize that that's the first time that note has been played in this song, but because of that everyone hearing it will still be affected by that even though they aren't aware of it.

It's real easy to show that colors change depending on the colors surrounding them. Perception is tricky stuff and it's not always a yes or no thing.

Anyway, that 300dpi may really be a limit but I don't think anyone, not even those investigating this stuff, can be truly sure of that. And even if it is a limit for me it might not be for you.

I am assuming this is one of the 50,000 best guides to an Amazon whatever.
Can you please link the book.
It is NOT a manual. It is a book/pamphlet put together by someone trying to make a buck.
Take any scientific stuff with a grain of salt.
Since ppI stands for pixels per inch, that statement makes no sense.
Note all eyes are different.

Watch reading so-called guides.
Usually if they say "best", they just want your money.

If 300 DPI was the limit there would be no distinction between the current line up of higher end Kindles, the Nook Glowlight Plus, or the Kobo Glo HD when compared to print on paper. So if you want to know if this applies to you, find a good quality print book and compare it to the ebook on your ereader of choice. If they appear exactly the same then congratulations you don't need to wait for eink tech to move forward. If the ereader looks better find a better quality print book. And finally if the print book looks better, you've just found out that 300 ppi is not a limit for you. I forget offhand just what the printed page is supposed to be in terms of PPI, but it's well over 300.

This doesn't have to do with how well you see either, I've got fairly poor vision and I still see a difference between my H2O and the printed page. Granted the H2O isn't quite 300 PPI but it's very close.

Katie,
I just looked at the book's page on Amazon.
First off, the author used Last instead of Latest.
Second, the free bonus at the end of the blurb is an indication of a copy and paste book.
I have seen the exact phrasing just change the product on several other books and the author name.
It looks like a Mike Adams book. He is the king of "Grab a quick buck" books.

What did I put wrong?
She did use last not latest and I read everything on the book's page. I found it on Amazon.

No, I did not find that line about the eyes interesting. I found it unscientific and very wrong.

Also that is not a manual but someone's guide to the Fire Phone.

I guess I should have sampled the book but I was rather busy yesterday.

On the book description on the Amazon page, I have read that exact same description on everything from kindles to decluttering to small appliances.
The only change in the description was what the product was.

So hun, don't waste your money on fake guides.

And dang it, the two people I was going to recommend don't have any fire phone guides.

The author does not seem to have a clear understanding of what PPI actually is and how it relates to a digital display. For one thing, she implies that PPI affects "saturation" when the two aren't in any way related.

What you should really care about is dot pitch, which is the distance between sub-pixels.

There is more to the visual quality of a display than PPI. The specific PPM answer is noted by others above (depends on viewing distance).

But, for example, a 16-shade greyscale display (with proper dithering algorithm) should appear better than a 1 bit black-and-white display. The range from blackest black to whitest white can vary (color displays will have different gamuts, different white balance, and calibration varies). Screen reflectivity can wash out the display with too much ambient light. Screen viewing angle can be narrower or wider. Screen refresh rate can be slower (E-ink is very slow but generations show improvement) or faster.

When you get to printed images you have to contend with other factors like "dot gain" (how much the ink spreads on the paper).

I looked at the exact book you posted in the OP.
Yep, Kindle Unlimited book so you picked it up on a free day.
So don't tell me wrong author.
She is not anymore of an expert than me or you.

Is this the book?
http://www.amazon.com/Fire-Phone-Ama...s=Sharon+Young

If yes, then we are talking about the same book.
Her comment about what a person can see is wrong.
