Kobo Glo HD (broken screen)

Hi there,

I accidently cracked the inside of my Kobo Glo HD, which resulted in a broken screen. In the memory there are quite some books with annotations (hours of work), which I really would like to retrieve. But since the screen is broken, I cannot see where this ''Accept'' button appears, when the e-reader asks for permission to connect to the computer.
Could one of you please send me a photo from the permission window that appears on screen?
I could not find a photo on the internet, that's why I ask you here.

Thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards,
Rudy

Or is there perhaps a way to access the files without giving permisson on the e-reader's screen?

Thread can be closed, after many times of pressing at random places it found the spot!

Glad you found the button. Another way to do it is to open the device and remove the micro SD card. You can mount this in a computer an access the user partition. Or at least, you can under Linux. I haven't spent the time to work out how to get to that partition under Windows.

If you are planning to buy another Kobo device, take a complete copy of user partition. With a little bit of work, you can restore this to another Kobo device and be back were you started. Otherwise, you can get the annotations from two places:

- The database is in ".kobo/KoboReader.sqlite". The table of interest is called "bookmarks".

- For PDF and epubs on the main memory, the annotations are also written to files in "Digital Editions/Annotations". There is one file per book with annotations. It is an XML file that is reasonable easy to read. Again, with a little work, you can get it to another Kobo device or ADE on a desktop.

Thank you very much for the information! I already made a backup of all files on the Kobo. I indeed want to restore it to a new Kobo Glo Hd somewhere in the future.
