Loved that series !

Epic, in more ways than one, and one way was in the graying of my hair between the first and last book in the series and my wheels starting to fall off.




I just hope producing the movie does not take as long as the series took to write !

Kirk Douglas, in his autobiography, talks a lot about Rambo. It seems the idea for that movie was his and he put up most of the money and he and Michael Douglas produced it together. But they disagreed about whether Rambo should die, as he did in the book. Kirk said it wasn't a good story if Rambo lived and Michael said it was a better story; they argued and Kirk got upset and dropped out of the production, leaving it to Michael. He said if they'd done it his way they would have lost $4 billion on the movie and it's sequels.

As much as I would love to see a Dark Tower movie, after watching 11-22-63 I'm really thinking they won't pull it off.

I watched the trailers and had high hopes for it but 2 episodes in I'm finding it hard to keep it going and I loved the book and audio book book even more.

I know Kings movies have always been lacking but this has been a real letdown.

Neither Douglas had anything to do with the production of First Blood. Kirk Douglas was hired for the role of Col. Trautman. Douglas quit the role over his belief that the movie should end like the book did, and Richard Crenna eventually got the part.

How Kirk Douglas Almost Ruined First Blood

The day before filming began, at the 11th hour. Douglas, in a bout of extreme chutzpah, showed up with a revised script. He had the ending completely changed. Said Sylvester Stallone earlier this year: “The plan to include Kirk Douglas snowballed into something I never expected. He said to me: ‘Here’s what I want. At the very end of the movie I should kill you. The audience sees a cop car driving away and as it disappears into the fog a hand reaches up to the rear view mirror. The camera turns up and we see me. It turns up a bit higher and I’m wearing your headband'”.

When Douglas was advised in no uncertain terms that his suggestion was not going to happen, he abandoned the shoot, leaving them in the lurch with one day to go. And with one day to go, Richard Crenna was drafted in.
