Kobo Glo HD Home screen hard to read

I have trouble distinguishing books on the home screen if the covers are all really dark or if they are project gutenberg books that all look the same.

Is there any fix or modification for this?

I can click Library and then click Books but that doesn't fix this problem.

Can you click on a list view?
You get titles not covers.
Let me turn on my kobo.
Go to books, then tap the menu. Under options tap display.
There you should have "covers and text", "covers only", "text only".
I have covers and text checked.

Mine is an older kobo.
Ripp's idea looks easier.

Go to Settings, Library Settings, and uncheck the box for "Show thumbnail images in list view" and see if you don't like that better.

I always have good, clean images that are easy to see though. It's a normal step for me when I add a book to Calibre, to make sure the book has an image I like and a different one for each book, even for public domain books.

Those settings change the Library list view

but I mean the Home screen where it has only small cover images and "X% read" or "New" "Finished" and a lot of blank space around the small covers

I think the only real way to fix the problem for the homescreen would be to add some better covers to the books. Calibre is useful for doing this.

You can avoid the homescreen most of the time though, as you can go directly to the library view from a book instead of going to the homescreen first.

But for those times you end up at the homescreen, if you have the library tile on the homescreen then it is only one tap to go from homescreen to library. (Using the library tile will show the library sorted by most recent first, which is usually the same order as the book covers appear on the homescreen.)

Kobo should have have Author and Title caption below each book cover on home screen and list view option. They solved this problem in library making it easy to now solve it on home page.

Not first or list time I will ask for this feature.

Doesn't patching provide for larger icons on the home screen? Maybe that would help?

Patching just removes the tiny white border around the book icon, AFAIK. That would be more an aesthetical improvement than a big gain of size.
