Problems sending books to Kindle Fire (Gen 5)
![]() However when I send books across (using both the usb and the calibre companion app) Sometimes the books vanish, they aren't in the book library. I never had this problem with my last kindle fire (gen 2). This does not always happen sometimes, the books go direct to the library, I have tried using different files both mobi and AZW3 but this does not seem to make a difference?? I can find the files/books in the ES app they are in the document file, I can transfer them into the book file this allows me to access the book after I have opened it via the "recent" page on the home pages of the kindle, but it does not show in the book library on the kindle. I hope I have made some sense and you can help me on this? |

I have the same issue. Calibre shows them there, but they don't show up. I will try the ES app.

On configure device in Calibre, I told it to send them to the Book folder. They are there, and I can open them, but have to go back into ES to find them again. I tried to restart, and everytime I do, it takes 10 min to optimize apps. I am just about at the point of sending this back. I got it to take care of the nighttime feature for reading, but it is more trouble than it is worth.

Well, it worked when I connected Calibre Companion as a Wireless Device. What a pain. but for $50, what do you expect?

Katie1, would you explain? I would like to get them sideloaded on the SD card. When I did this, they would be under books, but I could only view them by us ES to go to the folder and then selecting them. When I used Calibre Companion, they loaded on the main disc, and I see them when I select the kindle app, but when I turn off the screen and turn it back on, I don't see where I left off. I have to go to the kindle app and get the book again.
I did load the file that put the google play store on my kindle. It isn't working great, though, because I still get ads on the lock screen. I didn't load the files to prevent OTA updates, so that may be why. If that is what makes it so I can't read my books, I will have to get rid of it, because that is why I bought this-reading in bed with the blue light shade on. |

When they are on the SD Card they Don't hold your place in the book. That's why I moved mine to the Main Storage. Now IF you pick a App & Move the App to SD Card then I Think the App will Keep your place in the book. Any way When you side load them from Calibre In stead of sending them to the Fire send them to Card A > Then you may need to go to the PC pick Fire > click on Storage > them Move them to the App you want them in. I have 1400+ ebooks they really don't take up that much room to leave them on the Main HD they don't even take up 1gig most are 7-800 page books!
I trying to figure out How to Side Load my Movies on to the SD Card ![]() My Fire came with ads. Didn't yours? Last edited by Barbara1955; 02-06-2016 at 06:35 PM. |

Yes, but the hack to add google play was supposed to take ads off the lock screen. Worked the first time, but I think I allowed an on-air update. There was an option to also disable automatic updating-perhaps I should use that.
Thanks for telling me about the books. I won't stress about having them on the tiny HD. I already have 5 or 6, and still have 3.5 GB. I am excited about putting magazines on here. I got some digital knitting magazines, and on my ipaid air, they were too dark to read. That was a known issue. I put some on my kindle fire hdx, and they were perfect. But of course not much room. Will have to put them on the SD, and I guess navigating and clicking isn't soooo hard. I don't think this comes with TTS, does it? I figured that out on my hdx, but can't find it here. I understand the sound is crappy, anyway. |
