Kindle DXG fw 3.3 B009 > second screen usbnetwork hack?

Hi

1. I have Kindle DXG (graphite) SN B009 with jailbrake (I do not know what kind) to firmware 3.3 (611680021). I dont know what kind of jailbreake it is, someone else installed the soft.

2. Also there is Doukan installed with shortcuts to change system (UpArrow+D+S) and go back to Amazon soft (UpArrow+D+X). (dont know version).

It seems that Doukan is installed in the following way:

I want to make kindle dxg working as a second display via usb - but also when disconnected from PC - to stay fully functional ereader.

That is not the jailbreak, that is a continuation of the Frankenstein firmware for the K2/DX(G).

I don't think anyone has (successfully) used VNC on a device with Doukan installed.
We don't support the Doukan project here due to issues with their ethics.

Weird thing just happened - I have left Update_usbnetwork_0.57.N_dxg_install bin file in the root of my Kindle DXG.

Did nothing on my own.

When having kindle connected via USB I have unmounted it from Windows 10 pro 64bit. But kindle was Still charging.

Suddenly, After a while kindle started update with the use of the above mentioned file.

It updated with success. Worked fine. Then I set up on PC a VNC, and connected Kindle dxg 3.3. but it was recognized as USB mass storage - maybe file name of "Disabled AUTO" in USBnetwork folder on kindle (shown up after update) should be changed to "AUTO"? as said there:

I have managed to rename file to "auto" in usbnet dirextory in kindle. Kidle connected to PC started installation of the "usb ethernet gadget" but no visibility in internet connections in Settings (Windows)

I am not sure that you can.
First, check if they have an un-installer or an un-install command.
(their new owner is miui.com)

If that fails, then -
Try this:
remove all DK_* directories in the USB visible storage -
telnet in (I assume you have telnet working) and delete all contents of /var/local
exit from telnet
with the Kindle's Settings menu, 'reset to factory defaults'
make offerings to your favorite Gods
re-boot

This alternative **might** leave some Doukan changes to the normally read-only file system. **might**, I don't know.

This is weirder - right now Doukan with uparrow+D+S started, also log off from doukan to kindle OS worked. Still can not access kindle via USB


Update_usbnetwork_0.57.N_dxg_install <- this file has read where is written to make active auto.bin file.

But how to reverse it and make it disabled? to get USB kindle <> pc connection working.

I did it!

tap the Del key on the Kindle DX keyboard. A prompt will appear. Type ;debugOn and press Return. Note the semicolon at the beginning of the command; you can produce it by using the Sym key. Next, tap Del again. Type ~usbNetwork and press Return. This command starts with a backtick, which you also produce via the Sym key. Make sure that it's a backtick, not a single quotation mark. Once you have that, tap Del one last time. Type ;debugOff and press Return.

IMHO - if kindle dxg has 3.3 soft then it is no longer dxg, but the model that natively holds 3.3 software -- am I right?

So maybe I should use usbnetwork hack for 3.3. firwware device - seems to be like Kindle Keyboard??

At the moment I am where I have started. My kindles root and other directories can be accessed when in USB mode.

But still I do not know what kind of hack use in order to change it into the usb-second display for WIN 10 PRO 64 bit.

Having 3.3. Kindle OS made Kindle USB display hack DXG not working for me for example - backtick should be changed for ~ when writing usbNetwork while activating the hack. Still I do not know why driver enclosed in hack will not install in windows as another network connection but only as com3 usb gadget device.

Excuse me for not proper description I have been doing lots of things on the fly

Yeah I have read this.

Problem is - windows 10 can not recognize the kindle as network connection or whatever. It is only installed as some kind of usb device - unknown in device menager and no driver suits it.
