Calibre get & conversion disabled in Win10 & Mac El Capitan

After much research and anguish I have determined that the Calibre features add books/convert books can no longer work within the new win 10 or OS El Capitan operating systems.I have Calibre & Calibre2 installed in one of each type computer and they are unable to function as before in win7/8. My experience with apple is limited to a new Mac pro which came with El Capitan OS, in which I am greatly disappointed. Both these OS's have reformatted my old book files into proprietary types not responsive to Calibre, have introduced new book control agents (like Apple System Book Agent) and relocated them to inaccessible places not reachable by Calibre.Further, Apple has erased the Calibre accessible iTunes program and instituted a captive program named iBooks that responds only to Apple books.Library books for kindle are likewise not available to Calibre and therefor incapacitated unless there is a workaround that I have not yet found.Others have made efforts to uninstall iBooks and reinstall the old iTunes to no avail. These changes are deep in the OS architecture and unrepairable, so if i could, I'd go back to win 7 or 8.Or at least don't upgrade to ElCapitan. All comment and criticism of this post will be welcomed.I would be glad to learn of any answers that can revive my old Calibre usefulness.

Calibre2 is the Programs Files folder on Windows
All current versions are 2.x (1.48 was the last on XP unless you were lucky and 2.00 ran on your rig, and YOU kept the installer )

Calibre version 2.x works fine With the EXACT same library files, on W10 and W7 (and XP).

The disappointment is on your rigs. And is caused by something in one of your local SYSTEM configurations (folder permissions? Disk 'Encryption' was enabled in the OS?)

I accept that its possible that some win 10 upgrades communicate with Calibre provided the user has not wiped the win 7/8 files. But its only a matter of time before the win 10 is standing alone and then youll see there is no compatibility with Calibre. As for Mac's issues with Calibre see:

Huh! That link is about i-tunes caused issues. (Another reason I say "I Won't buy Apple" )

Calibre Libraries work with all NON-apple (i-tunes) reader devices

I move the Library between all 3 versions and it just works. (I keep a backup copy on XP and open that to check what the old metadata looked like)

Mac and Linux introduce filename CASE issues (but the book files are still valid and the DB just needs repair so it finds those files again)

Sorry, but Win10 has done NOTHING to stop calibre working with the library on the computer. It does not touch the library, it does not stop the calibre executable. It definitely does not change the books in any way.

If something has happened like you describe, then I would recommend running virus and malware scanners as soon as you can. And make sure you download calibre from the official site.

There have been a few problems with calibre not being able to access ereaders connected to Win10 computers. For some people, after upgrading to Win10, the device is not mounted in the way calibre expects it. Based on the number of reports here, it is a small number of users who are seeing this. Kovid has been working on this and I believe he has solved the issue. There is a beta with this fix in it available for anyone who needs it.

Me, too. If anything, it functions more smoothly than it did on Windows 7.

I'm running Calibre 2.49 on two different win10 PCs with no issues. 1 was bought with win10 preinstalled and the other was upgraded from win8.1 (win8.1 files have been deleted)

Other than a new version of OSX bringing a new version of iTunes which hides your iBooks, are there any actual problems???
