Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8 inch

I have discovered a problem with my Tab S2. I am using Kindle for android, Calibre Companion (latest), and Calibre 2.49 on OS X 10.11.2. I have been using Calibre for sometime on my Nexus 7, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S6, Kindle, and now with my Tab S2. I have had S2 for a couple months. When I loaded all my books, I noticed 3 books had default (B/W) bookcovers. I didn't pay any attention. Today I did. Two of the books just have the default bookcover, but are readable. The third has the default bookcover, but is not readable. When tapped it brings up a big thumbnail of the bookcover, but nothing else. I tried loading it on my S6 and it transfers fine. The bookcover in the carousel is the default, but "on device" is what I would expect. I loaded it on my Kindle and it works fine. I tried loading it over USB with only Calibre, same result. This seems to be peculiar to Tab S2. Any ideas? Anything I can do to help troubleshoot?

Is this a Calibre Companion (CC) question? If so then I will move it to the CC forum.

No, as same result with Calibre only (USB).

I read on here about moon+ reader. Thought I would give it a try. I can read the book that I was unable to in Kindle app. Therefore, I conclude it is a Kindle app problem on Tab S2.

Maybe after all it is a Calibre Companion problem. I have been trying to get my Kindle books into the Moon+ reader. In CC, I set directory to /sdcard/books/moonreader and moved all my books. This did not work out as I had intended, so I moved them back. Now I can read the book I couldn't before in my Kindle app.

I am confused about that exactly you were trying to do and what you did.

Two general points:
  • Moon+ supports .mobi but does not support .azw3.
  • Kindle for Android (K4A) requires that the books be in one of a very short list of folders, IIRC "/kindle", "/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files", and in some cases "/Books". CC won't attempt to launch K4A on an amazon format if the book is not in one of those folders.
Thus, if you moved the Amazon-format books from their "natural" home then K4A wouldn't open them and CC would not launch K4A. If the books are azw3 then Moon+ won't open them either.

My original problem was I had 3 books that had default covers (B/W), 2 of the 3 were readable, but the 3rd was not. All books are mobi format and in the /sdcard/kindle directory.

In trying to resolve this problem, I read in one of the forums about Moon+. Thought I would give it a try. I couldn't see my books in Moon+. I had Calibre Companion move then from /sdcard/kindle to /sdcard/books/moonreader. This did not do what I wanted in moon+ (be able to see them in Myshelf). So I moved them back to /sdcard/kindle with CC. Now the 3 books have default covers (in carousel, but good in "on device"), and are all readable.

I don't care about the default bookcovers. I am only including this as information. It appears that moving the books from /sdcard/kindle and back again has resolved the critical problem of not being able to read one of my books in k4a.
