Feature suggestion: Tweak to make job window not always on top
Hi
![]() Is it possible to create a tweak to make the job window not always on top, or better yet, make it able to be minimized? Often I'd like to monitor how far along Calibre is with regard to running jobs, but I would still like to do things such as browsing the library and editing books to add to the queue. This does work now, but because the job window always stays on top, it's in the way of using the main Calibre interface. My screen resolution is not high enough to move the window out of the way. Thanks ![]() |

There's no easy way to do that in Qt, without making the child window independent of the parent window, which has other undesirable side effects

Ah, pity. I was hoping it was as easy as setting "MinimizeButton = true" and "AlwaysOnTop = false"

Job Spy
@Katsunami:
Job monitoring workflow varies widely. On one extreme of the continuum, I personally dislike using keyboard shortcuts, so I use only the mouse. To greatly reduce the number of mouse-clicks and mouse-pointer manual repositionings viz a viz using the Calibre Job Dialog et al, I monitor my jobs using the "Job Spy" plug-in which I wrote to exactly match my personal job monitoring workflow and preferences. The mouse pointer on my Windows 10 desktop automatically "snaps" to the default pushbutton on new dialogs, so repositioning the mouse pointer is unnecessary. Left-clicking is sufficient to continue, including closing the current Job Details Dialog, since the "close" button is the default pushbutton for the Job Details Dialog. At the opposite end of the spectrum there are those who assiduously avoid using the mouse yet still find Job Spy sufficiently ergonomic to use by customizing the Calibre context menu. Job Spy is "bottom-up", not "top-down", so it will be of little interest to those who are primarily interested in the "overview" statistics available only from the standard Calibre Job Dialog, such as "status", "progress" and "running time". Job Spy only displays detailed Job Logs, not the "overview" of all jobs. DaltonST |
