Glo HD Screen 'Texture'

A new Glo HD just arrived this morning and I have noticed that the displayed page appears to have tiny flecks / specks of gray. It appears on the entire screen. I first thought it was dust, but it's not.

It's been on the UPS truck for a few days and I don't know if the outside temperature could be the cause, if it is a design feature to give the appearance of texture similar to a piece of paper, or if it is faulty.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Please post a photo of the screen. But attach the photo so it's not too big and gets removed by some overzealous staffer.

I don't think these photos will help. In the pictures the screen looks mottled with a few scattered gray specks.

Looking at it IRL, it's much more prevalent. I also thought it could be ghosting so I changed the refresh to 1 page without any change.

I'm now wondering if it's my eyes or my imagination.

I'm not sure for the Glo HDs, as I've got an H2O, but the screen with the light off should be a uniform grey. I specify the light being off since there may be some variance in the color of the screen with the lights on though it should be minimal.

Going by the description more than the photo - many tiny specks, like the grain of paper, can be seen on close inspection of a normal e-ink screen (particularly if you have very good near vision).

Good point, though the pictures seem to have more flecks than I'd think would be there otherwise.

I keep the front light on around 20%, it's high enough that even in a well lit area the screen appears to be whiter, and low enough that when I'm reading in bed I don't get blinded by the light. Others have commented they find different levels more preferable so it's probably going to require a little tweaking if you want to do this. I've not noticed any excessive drain on the battery by doing this.

This is good to know. I never noticed it on my Aura HD but it stood out immediately when I powered on the Glo HD for the first time. After that, I couldn't focus on anything else.
