Iliad feature request (and poll): Third-party application support

I just added a feature request on iRexs forum about iRex should provide better third-party application support for the iliad:

What about making an applications folder. A place where one can install third-party applications, and somehow make it easily available through one of the many buttons on the iliad (maybe even make an applications button on the iliad itself).

What about making an API for third-party developers where they can have access to functions that allows them to make their application a startup item or any other things they might need?

Allow apps to run in the background, and add a button so that even when one read books, one can press that button and all background apps will be listed and one can choose to stop (or start) one of the apps.

Well, that was just a 5 minutes brainstorm... but only the imagination and technical limitations can postpone it.

What do you guys think? Vote on the poll and come with suggestions here:
