New Glo HD, battery died in sleep mode

Hey, I just got a Glo HD last week and everything seemed fine until yesterday. I went to work in the morning and when I got home the Kobo screen showed that the battery was dead and I had to plug it in. I recall I had at least 70-75% battery when I left and it was in sleep mode.

Could WiFi being on cause such battery drain? I've turned the wifi off now after fully charged so I will see how it goes over the next few days.

Did you plug it in correctly?
I would say, change the usb cable that you used to charge it with, and try to charge with a different cable.

It charges fine I think, it just appeared that it discharged very fast while in sleep mode for some reason ( it was +70% when i left for work then was dead when i got home). i've charged it fully again and i will see if it does it again.

Also check that automatic sync is off (Settings > Syncing and updates > Automatic sync) as if this is enabled it will turn wi-fi back on to sync during the night, even if you had turned wi-fi off manually.

I've forgotten to turn off wifi on my Kobo Glo HD (purchased June 2015) for hours at a time and I've never had the battery drain in the way you describe. If it happens again with your very new Kobo Glo HD, I'd suggest contacting Kobo right away about returning it for a replacement.

The tip about turning off Automatic Synch is a great idea. I've now done the same with mine.

Thanks all. I've turned off auto sync and wifi. After disconnecting from 100% charged yesterday morning, i read for little over an hour yesterday and had it in sleep the rest of the time. battery went to 95% when i put it to sleep at night. in the morning, it was 94%, read about 30 minutes this morning, and saw it drop to 93.

does that appear to be normal behaviour? i will leave it in sleep when i leave for work and see what it is when i get home.

Takes a few charge and discharge cycles to accurately indicate battery status.
