CC google-account playstore
hello,
with some pc-failures I had deleted my google-account , too (not intended but sh* happens sometimes) at my table-pc was CC installed and is working extremly well with my calibre-library on the desktop... but I can't update anymore since google don't allow to reanimate my deleted account. with the newly created account I have no proof for you, that it is the new/old user who had bought CC... is there a way to change your ident-database for CC to my new account? hopefully whiteninja |

Google can transfer licenses between accounts. I have done it, admittedly while both accounts still existed. I hope that Google will be sympathetic to you and transfer the old license(s) to the new account. |

This is a slightly different but related issue.
I've recently purchased Icarus Illumina XL, and tried setting it up with all the various apps, including Calibre Companion. Unfortunately, the "app store" that they have on it does not have any option to get paid apps, nor does it allow to actually log in into any Google account. I did purchase CC before, so I extracted the apk from my phone and installed it on the device. Except when I try to connect to the computer it gives me the Application not licensed message. If I install Play Store, the message does go away (even though the Play Store is useless, it doesn't even open) and I can run everything normally. Except the issue is that the touch screen stops responding properly when I read; after a while it either refuses to turn the page until the second touch, or skips two pages at once. And unfortunately there are no physical buttons on it. Only after uninstalling Play Store I can read normally. This leaves me quite in a conundrum. I remember you mentioning before that you do have a boyue device which runs the same operating system, so I was wondering if you have a solution to this. I'll be happy to buy a separate license for the ereader if needed. |

@iatheia: once CC has successfully checked its license once it never asks again unless it is un/reinstalled or data is cleared. Now that CC works, you should be able to uninstall the GP stuff without affecting CC. You will of course need to manually update it from time to time, which should be possible with side-loaded APKs.
I have a rebranded boyue from energy systems that comes with the GP store, so that won't help. I did install the GP store on my Onyx Afterglow II without problems, but that doesn't help you. |

Not in my experience, unfortunately. Without GP it immediately starts to complain. May be because it never finished verifying the license, this process probably crashes immediately just as everything else involving GP, only giving an illusion of working properly...
I don't really want to root the device to get a proper GP working, I suspect it will only make the screen situation worse. |

If you send me a debug log I might be able to tell what it is doing. See http://cc_faq.multipie.co.uk/index.php?solution_id=1068. BTW: what method are you using to install GP. There are several. Perhaps one of these might work better? this one and this one. Finally, as you said that you would be open to buying another license, can you install the Amazon app store? I now keep the CC Amazon version fully synced with the GP version, which resolves the largest complaint with CC on Amazon. |

I meant immediately after uninstalling GP the next time connecting as a device.
Thank you for your suggestion about the Amazon app store, it didn't occur to me. I was able to both instal it and open it and get CC from it. Everything appears to be working fine for now, hopefully it wouldn't cause issues with touch screen as GP did. But if it does, now that it properly verified the license, I should be able to uninstall the amazon app store if needed? |

You might consider running the demo version for a while along side the amazon app store. That way if things go bad with the touch screen you aren't out the money. |

We are strongly considering removing all license checks from CC. This is a complicated question, one that has no easy answer. App piracy is rampant (our estimate is 40% to 50% of CC users run pirated versions), but it isn't clear that licensing does anything to slow piracy down.
Note that we are *not* considering running our own app store. CC will still be legitimately available only in Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. |

It has not Licensing with Google Play Store. Im sure, that a lot of Users will buy CC, because its good and cost not much (less than a book). And those without the possibility to connect to store cannot buy it - they have to run "pirated" software (like me on my Tolinos). CC works in WLAN - why Internet for Licensing?
