Reading a Recommendation by Genre

There use to be a sticky in the Reading Recimmendations section listing recommendations by genre. It had mysteries, science, sci fi etc. but I don't see it anymore. Has it been removed?

Yeah, I remember those threads also, and I've just checked and can't see them .....

I note that there's been a clean up of the 'stickies' in that Forum, so maybe they went in the bin?

I noticed there were fewer stickies in the Reading Recommendations forum, but for the life of me, I couldn't tell you what's been unstuck (well, except for the 2015 Challenge List thread, which I did

). I'm sure you're right, though. And if it turns out people really want it stuck again, it can be.

Generally speaking, though, and not making a judgment on any particular thread, I think it's good to shake up the stickies other than the most pertinent and vital. Contrary to the intent, I know I get to the point where I don't see them anymore. Hence my inability to recall what's gone.

I wonder if it was unstickied because it was no longer being maintained, last edit was early 2014? (I think Dreams quit participating here)

If nobody posts to a thread for a long time, it gets unstuck as a general rule. Best way to keep a thread stuck is to keep it active. If this interests you, post to it!

In this case I believe it's a locked thread not meant to be posted to. It's meant to be an index of other threads.

Surely the 'Recommendations for Your Favorite Book Genre' thread could be considered as 'Reference' as the material in it doesn't date .....

Each of the genres listed contain a wealth of material that can be added to ad infinitum. And, as new genres appear on the market they can be added. (Say like 'steampunk' is fairly recent (and it does have a listing)).

The interested member can view any of the categories and get ideas for their next read, and/or they can add their author/book to a genre. A member doesn't have to make a contribution for this thread to be useful.

I think that this overarching thread should be a permanent 'sticky' in the Reading Recommendations Forum, it serves as a very useful reference.
