How to Access Kindle Ebooks?
I'm thinking of purchasing an "eTextbook" from Amazon. Would I be able to add it to my Calibre library?
Right now I have 3 kindle ebooks on my amazon account but I'm unable to read any of them. I don't own any Amazon devices. There is no option to simply download them. If I can't read these, how would I be able to read the textbook? Is this a situation where I would I have to download the kindle app to my computer and read them through that? What if I want to read them outside of my computer? Last edited by please55; 12-24-2015 at 12:13 PM. |

Yes, you should download the Kindle4PC app, and use that to download the ebooks. And yes, you probably can add the ebook to calibre - after you strip the DRM. |

What do you mean by this? If you have a smart phone or some kind of tablet, you can download the Kindle app for them.
You can also read your books in the Kindle Cloud Reader. https://www.amazon.com/cloudreader |

Here are some things to keep in mind:
Many textbooks are formatted for larger screens and will only be downloadable to specific types of devices. Check device restrictions before you buy. Many textbooks are expensive to purchase in e-book form ($120 and up). Some are available to rent at a lower cost, but removal of DRM from rented books is considered unethical and not supported by the DRM removal tools. |
