Help with series numbering plugboard
Hello again, relative newbie
I tried to set up a series numbering plugboard so that my series books will be numbered on my Nook. I followed the directions here: http://www.howtogeek.com/114063/how-...-ebook-series/ I've tried 2 out of 3 of the suggested source templates, and then followed the directions. I am not getting the title numbering on my Nook, which I thought this would take care of. Suggestions on troubleshooting? I have calibre 2.4.6 with a Nook Simple Touch. Plug board set up: format: epub device: Nook source template {series:|| }{series_index:0>2s|[|] }{title} destination title thanks for any help. Edit: Do I need to change the template in the "sending books to devices" preference option? Last edited by Aliarides; 12-23-2015 at 06:20 PM. |

Nope, just as the howtogeek article said, you want a metadata plugboard.
A send-to-device template just changes the filename. You can find lots of information about templates in the plugboard and template recipes thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=100949 But you never mentioned what you set the destination field to... Did you resend the books, or were they then transferred for the first time?
ISTR there was a device, maybe the Nook, that would cache book metadata based on the internal UUID, and that metadata changes wouldn't work. |

I had deleted various non-labeled series items from the device earlier today, then did the plug board thing with a resend to the device with no luck. What else might I try?
I set up the plugfboard as above, then highlight/select the series and send to device with a right click. |

So it was a resend.
Maybe what I was remembering is the Nook. So... try sending a new book that hasn't been on the device before? I don't see what could be wrong in calibre itself, but just in case, go to the Nook's storage in your File Browser, and try opening one of the current books using calibre's "E-Book Viewer" or "Edit E-Book". Just double-check that the new title was indeed written into the metadata of the copy of the book that was sent to the device. |

Thanks. I sent some new series, opened them as you suggest, and title/series is not showing. So, is this a nook issue or am I missing something? Again, pretty new here but I've managed to create a custom column, load a plug in, and make some virtual libraries so I know just enough to get in trouble...

Why not attach some screen prints of the plugboards?

Are you sure your device does use the NOOK driver?

Almost definitely a driver issue.
Personally I use Any Format :: Any Device. ... There may be multiple Nook drivers, I cannot check at the moment since I am mobile. But I know there are multiple Kindle drivers -- the exact same confusion occurs when people try to use the KINDLE driver (for the Original Kindle ONLY) instead of the KINDLE2 driver. ![]() |

It should be the device driver, not output plugins. I can see two device drivers, the "NOOK" and "NOOK_COLOR". I have no idea which the "Nook Simple Touch" uses, but as you said, it should be shown when the device is connected.
