Download metadata auto-edit field
This may have already been answered but I can't find it so please point me to the right place. Calibre is so easy it makes me dumb so... dumb question follows.
I borrow books from my library (Overdrive) and they don't have series info so the first thing I do is 'download metadata' with Amazon.com and Overdrive listed as sources. Everything was perfect but sometime back the titles started coming through like this: Title (Series, Book 2). I've finally decided to stop manually editing the above info but can't figure out how to automate moving the series and index info from the title into the correct fields. HELP! Is this a plugboard, plug-in related, recipe, or what? Just in case it matters: I usually use the webserver to DL books to a PC, then USB them over to my Kobo touch. Once in a while I use the built-in browser. Calibre runs on a Mac-mini server. |

Select multiple books, and use Edit Metadata.
It will enter Bulk Edit Metadata mode, and you can use regular expressions to modify fields and move parts to other fields. P.S. There are much better sources for series. Try Goodreads, for example. |

Thanks for the quick reply. I disabled all but the goodreads plug-in for metadata download and that fixed the issue.
Though I'm still curious how one would auto-edit metadata download info. (Auto-edit meaning there would be a script in place that does the bulk editing for me.) It doesn't seem to fit anywhere in the exiting configuration areas that I could find. Plugboard was closest seeming but 'series' isn't an option for me. |

You can't.
You can download metadata, then edit the metadata that you downloaded. Afterward. |
