Is there a way to remove the gradient from the shelf in cover view?

Sorry, I know it's a rather shallow question. Haha. I've just started using this and I miss the material/IOS design of the shelf from Moon Reader and even Marvin.

Also, is there a way to remove the "slide for grouping drawer" notification on top?

I am not sure what you mean by the "gradient". I suspect that you mean the wood texture and the shadows. Regardless, the answer is no. You can choose between 4 different wood colors to see if one of them suits you better. (Settings / Covers and Thumbnails / Cover view: shelf material)

CC should have asked you if you want to keep that "button" after the grouping drawer was opened a few times. It is easy to ignore the message. In any event, you can add or remove it in (Settings / Customize the book list / Show grouping drawer buttons) or in (Settings / Customize the cover grid / Show grouping drawer buttons)

1. Yep, I'm just using the light wood one now - with a large enough cover size then it's barely noticeable.
2. Thanks for the info. I went to settings as you said and removed it.

I've gotten everything to work. Uninstalled the demo version, bought the full one. Thanks again!

The dark grey wood doesn't show gradient. The gradient is very apparent with the light grey wood to me as well.

Just to be clear: are either or both of you asking for a solid color background for the cover grid? Something that has no texture, shadow, or depth? Just covers on a flat colored space?

I use the dark wood so it doesn't affect me. Here's a screenshot of the light grey - this doesn't look gradient to you? I didn't think it looked like shadows. The dark strip on the bottom is obviously the shelf, but the back looks gradient to me.

I just thought there was just a setting or something that I missed, but if there's no option for it, it's ok, it's not that important. Although I wouldn't mind adding a new blank texture in the next CCompanion update. Haha

The next beta will have the option to choose a single color background using a color picker. Here are example screenshots on my N7 (2012).



Choosing "One solid color" gets you exactly that. There is no patterning, embossing, drop shadow, or any other embellishment. I am not willing to take the time to add such things.

I'll check it... and I agree with you. If you want a solid color, you get that, not another similar background changing the color.

It is. I added it so people could see the same covers on the same device with the two background types.

oops. I only saw you were talking about single colors and the color picker. You *did* say you didn't see the gradient so I was just making sure

I've tested it and I like the solid color (a bit difficult to adjust but that's the beauty of being totally configurable ), but I'm not a good reference as I use the list view

I use the list view almost exclusively. I only look at the cover view when someone asks question.

I also like row-oriented text-like web pages instead of fancy graphic ones. And I detest the tendency to change things simply to change them. But then, I am an old fart who is stuck in my ways. I do wonder whether designers know how much they disturb people like me (and I am not alone) when they "improve" things by moving buttons around and changing the layout and colors.

I still run Word 2003 because I *cannot stand* the ribbon. I hope that it continues to work until I no longer care...

I totally agree with you, I hate "redesigns".
