What is up with Amazon Prime?

I've had Prime for several years....tonight trying to place orders they want to charge me almost $22 to shop my $73 order. All items were Prime items. So is anyone else have this problem. Needless to say I did NOT place the order.

That is odd unless you accidentally have one day shipping checked.
Or did you accidentally click on the non prime item?
Or are you trying to ship them to different overseas addresses?

Lastly,
It could have been a glitch and you might want to try again.

One final thought are you logged into your prime account?
My husband and I have separate accounts and only one is prime.
So that sounds like something I would do.

I saw that tonight too. I had two items in my cart, both Prime. At checkout the system automatically generated a shipping charge of about 22.00. I looked at the shipping choices and there was no listing for free two-day prime, and also no option for no-rush shipping. I tried clicking on the various available options and after I'd clicked the one for free (slow) shipping a screen came up and said something about choose or verify shipping options and then flipped me back to the screen with the choices -- at which point the normal options appeared, with the free two-day prime checked, and the shipping cost calculated at zero. The no-rush option also showed up, with the "undesirable" pantry credits.

I thought maybe I'd happened to be placing my order just when Amazon was in the process of changing the no-rush options but I guess it could have just been a random glitch. Fortunately I wasn't trying to order any kind of super deal/limited quantity sort of thing so I didn't have to think about accepting the shipping cost and trying to sort it out later.

At least I was not the only one having that problem, all of my items were PRIME, I was finally able to order part of what I need with 2 day shipping, which will probably not be 2 day.

2 day shipping of bad Fire Phone is stuck within UPS, was supposed to here today..now will be delivered sometime this week! We DO NOT have any bad weather here and UPS got the phone 2 days ago. Oh, well.

I placed one order yesterday ( Cyber Monday ) and just went with prime 2 day shipping ,and it went through ok. I saw they were only offering prime pantry $5 credit again, so I skipped the No Rush option.

You can make it a "family" prime account.

I placed an order for a Prime item yesterday. It will be here tomorrow. Sounds like a glitch in the system. I'm in Illinois.

I think it's a glitch in the system too, I'm expecting a prime order today. I go to orders in my account and have been getting different tracking info since yesterday. First it just showed left first facility, then said it was on time to be delivered today. Next it was in New Jersey last night, ok good that's closer to me in New England. Today the tracking is showing it left the first facility again ? I just hope it gets here by 8pm. and is not lost. Is anyone else getting these random tracking messages ?

Amazon and I are playing chicken right now. I'm sitting on my orders until they change back to digital credit, but I'll have to crack eventually on the Christmas stuff if they don't cave.

I quite often get tracking numbers that initially indicate my package was already delivered a year or more in the past. At a destination not mine.

Freaked me out at first, but now I just assume it's about re-used tracking numbers that haven't been fully reset or something. They always straighten out in the end. Sometimes after I've opened the box.

LOL ! I hope I don't have to wait a year to find out !

Just checked tracking again, and now it says my package left New Jersey's facility at 5pm, today. So it looks like it's not going to make it tonight, it's after 7pm now, and I just got the update. The weather has been thick fog & light rain all day and since last night. I put on all the outside lights & flood lights so the UPS driver can find the house, can't see anything out tonight. I know I'm being optimistic, but I'll leave them on till 8pm. Most likely it will be delivered tomorrow, or I'll have to switch to candles & lanterns if it takes a year or more, to save money on the electric bill.

Yes, they're reused tracking numbers. Only once did I have a problem with them--the package disappeared into the UPS system and was never able to be traced anywhere.

My Prime ebook credit story...

I've been using the no rush shipping. I had 7 credits, some of which were on recent purchases. After reading this thread, I decided to use them, and online chat support with them to make sure it went smoothly. It went like this:

Me: Can you tell me how many credits I have for ebook purchases and when the first one expires?
Amazon: you have $7, and the first one expires January 31, 2016.
Me: So this ebook (provided a link) is $7.19, if I purchase it it will $0.19 plus tax?
Amazon: Yes, that is correct.
Me: give me a second, I'm going to purchase it...
Me: I ordered it, and the total came to $2.19. Here is the order numer: xxx
Amazon: I'm sorry about that. You can cancel the order, and I'll credit the account so you can re-order it. Is that OK?
Me: Yes, thank you... I canceled the order.
Amazon: I issued the credit, go ahead and re-order the ebook.
Me: I re-ordered it and the total came to $0.00. Thank you.
Amazon: Your welcome, is there anything else I can help you with today?
Me: No, you were very helpful. It's kind of rainy here and kittens are so cute.
...

I appreciate that it all turned out well, but it took me at least 15 minutes (not counting the chit-chat).

They need some way to reliably view the credit details. The best customer service is not needing to use customer service. IMO.
