Mass rename files
Hello
I have over 500 files in the book. When I was writing, use numbered them from 1 to 500 (plus the specific name), so as not to get lost. Now the number is no longer needed. I know that they can in sequence to change, but I thought that if Calibre supports regular expressions can would be do this automatically (as in the program "ReNamer"). Nothing like that I have found. Too bad. Best regards |

Are you talking about source files within a book? If so, this would appear to be a question about the Calibre Editor.

If these are source files that have not yet been compiled into a book (e.g. Word DOC files, RTF files, HTML files, ...) then you might look at using Bulk Rename Utility.

What is wrong with numbers
![]() (as long as you did them so they ASCII (alpha)sort in case your OPF gets damaged.) They work just fine with the reader device. I find named files can be handy for copy-edits, but if you have used the a scheme that allows auto generated TOC, even that is not needed. Just click the TOC (NCX) item to get to the file where the edit is needed ![]() I never understood why some publishers encode all the component the file names with all the metadata (ISBN_title_Author_sectiontype-sequence). ![]() EPUB is a package, you usually work inside the box ![]() Except for developing a cover or publishers boilerplate stuff that may come from external sources and need to be married up with the proper package, this seemed unnecessarily long winded |

Well, just so we're clear -- we are talking about the editor, right?
Well, if you select multiple files in the File Browser, you can bulk rename them with a user-chosen prefix, and suffixed with a number. Which seems a fair definition of "bulk rename" -- how else do you bulk rename them, without some sort of basename and incrementing counter? |
