If you have opened your aura H2o read this

Hello everyone, I'm Cere4l and im extremely good at err... breaking stuff. So as usual I broke my kobo by not paying attention and i had to open it up, something i hadnt done before because people said its impossible to waterproof them once theyre open, but upon opening it i recognised the smell comming from the glue the H2o uses.

I work in a divestore, so we have some products that are used when you have to fix a hole in a suit or a camerahouse, and basically judging from composition and smell the glue seems to be either identical or near identical to the glue used by a brand called "black witch", cant say i was willing to give it a full test. but holding it under water for a small while was perfectly fine

Another thign i noticed is the two extra usb ports on the board, has anyone tried to see if theyre host ports? id love to build a remote for the e-reader so it becomes easier to read while lying down and there is some space to allow another tiny connector in the waterproofed area

I believe people have made remotes for the Kindle before.

You might find it easier in general to create a remote that connects to your ereader over SSH, no need to take it apart.

I suspect that the "extra USB ports", are actually ttl serial ports. I added a Bluetooth > TTL Serial Adapter to one of my Aura HDs, using one that has the Error Out directed to it.

Luck;

This picture of the Aura HD PCB shows serial ports at J1, J2 and J5 (the one I am using). The pads are marked.

This might help. This too.

In the spirit of this thread, You could use one of these to connect to the serial port and an old serial mouse might be adaptable to handle your page turns.
