Humbugs and Heartstrings by Northumberland-resident author Catherine Ferguson is her standalone holiday-themed chick-lit friendship drama/reunion comedy with f/m romantic elements, which is apparently some sort of modern take on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, starring two former best friends whose lives have gone in different directions: one a miser looking to secure her business, the other now her unhappy employee who might be falling for a man her now-boss is looking to exploit, with the result that the two women wind up confronting their past together and re-evaluating their relationship as they're reminded of the important things in life in the true holiday spirit, free courtesy of publisher HarperCollins UK's Maze imprint.
