How do I keep books' collections when I update/recopy them

When I update/recopy over a sideloaded book on my pw2, it gets removed from whatever collections it's in. (I want to update/copy over my books because I changed the font I embedded in them.)

Is there a way to keep their associated collections? It's also not jailbreakable if that matters. 5.6.5 firmware.

No, there isn't. You'll need to re-add the book to the collection after you update it.

If the book has the same exth 113, it might keep the collection. You'll need the Quality Check plugin to embed the ASIN there, as modifying the contents (e.g. changing embedded font

) will regenerate the AZW3 and regenerate (via UUID) a new exth 113.

You'll also need to be careful about modified titles/author -- I've noticed on my KT, if I clean and update the title on a book that has a collection, then resend the book without first deleting it through the framework, the Kindle freaks out and makes it go invisible.

Thanks! I've never heard of exth 113 before. Something to look into.

I don't modify title/author.

Messing with exth 113 seems like it might be a bit of a hassle though, for lots of books. Might as well just re-add the books to collections I guess?

Quality Check has an option to Fix ASIN for Kindle Fire -- as long as you have the right amazon:_____ identifier, it will work and is pretty easy.

That would imply that the user has any idea what were ASIN/UUID values used (present in the book file) the first time book was added to a collection, and also inputting it to Calibre metada for that book and then using the Quality Check plugin.

Al in all time wise, add the books manually... or wait for jailbreak and after jailbreaking use LibrarianSync and Kindle Collections plugin to populate collections.

Huh, well, most of my books are originally from Amazon.

Or if they were added as AZW3 files, then calibre should import the mobi-asin metadata...
