Generous use of empty spaces (Foolish?)
![]() An official e-book version. E-book viewer · · · · · · · · · · Edit Book I criticize the massive use of blank lines. Reasons a) Waste of space b) Nonsensical blank lines do not contribute to overview c) Increased energy consumption when reading on an e-reader (multiple flip) Possibly the publisher (remain unnamed) wanted here to spice up the volume a bit. Target: Reduction of blank lines. Edit Book (Target state) Questions 1) What do you think (with regard to copyright, ethics and such stuff, you know) of such an intervention? 2) HowToDo? a) Remove all simple blank lines? b) The extended blank lines (<p class = "p-blanc"> <br/> </ p>) are to be reduced to simple blank lines. Regex-profs are particularly in demand here. Last edited by chaot; 10-30-2015 at 05:41 AM. Reason: add (with regard to copyright, ethics and such stuff, you know) |

The blank lines in the source are not causing the extra space between lines in the displayed ebook.
Instead, this is a function of the CSS styling for paragraphs. Look for that. |

Those have no effect on the output.
They exist solely for Readability by the Coder IMHO 'Cheats' by the publisher of standard editions in using a general body-text line-spacing: greater than 1.2, is to make the book appear longer (use more screens). Like any other generality, there are good reasons to use line-spacing: with bigger or smaller numbers. Those usually are restricted to a small portion, not the main body of the work. |

Off hand, since I don't read German, it looks like a poor man's scenebreak.

To understand German or not, never mind, in English it is exactly the same.
Two pattern! Which would you give preference? "Bla." "Get's so warm in the pants to me.'' "Bla bla bla." Moreover, I had not thought about. "It's such a very unique feeling." It really felt as if you could have gotten a full package. "Bla." "It smells also so funny!?" His by alcohol stunned brain was wrong here. The smell was quite familiar, you might say. "Bla bla bla bla bla, you pig!" "Oh no! You are so right again, next I will absolutely follow your advice." This is family life as it can be, I am telling you. "Bla." The first
Lots easier for old eyes to track and the CSS change is dirt simple Code:
p {margin:.5em 0 0 0; text-indent: 0; Code:
p {margin:.0; text-indent: 0; |

Yes, if you get shown, everything is easy. Sometimes at all possible.
For inspection of the complete stylesheet see here. I just simplified the CSS properties margin-top and margin-bottom in some (selected) rows (63, 64 & 67, 68) to margin and set the value to zero. These seem me to be those that relate to the text. The distinction between top and bottom seems me now superfluous. Anyway, the result is at least OK. Book viewer (Optimized lines) So I think the book is readable (by design). I'm still quite young. ![]() Why did you set there a point in the code. Accidentally? I didn't. Code:
p {margin:.0; text-indent: 0;
