Screenlayout behaviour
Hi,
well i did not found any suitable title for two things i can observe on my Win 7 64 using Sigil 0.8.7. These two things are not new in 0.8.7, they ecist a little bit longer but it seems that no one has reported it til now. May be its only on my system? Anyhow: The frist one is purely cosmetic. When i move the Cursor from the Editorcanvas to the scroll bar on the right side the cursor does not change his shape. It still looks like an "I" but on a scroll bar it should look like an arrow. Despite of that the scroll bar is fully functional. The second one is annoying me more. When i click one file after the other in the book browser and i will reach the end of the window the filelist is moved so that the las file being clikced on is no longer at the bottom but in the middle. Now the next file in the sequewnce is no longer a small move down to be reached but its in the middle, so you have to move the mouse up instead to move down a litttle bit to get the next file in sequence. Is this only on my system? //Rubeus |

My cursor changes shape just as you describe. (I have been using Windows since 1992, and I never before noticed the shape-shifting!)
My filelist in Book Browser doesn't move when I click on different files. Indeed, to get to the files toward the end, I have to use the vertical scroll bar. Windows 7 32 bit, Sigil 0.8.4 |

yes, the file shifting happens on my system too..but I think it is by design. When you click on a file that is a the very edge of the window (top or bottom) it flows the range to the middle so you can see the rest of the list. It is kindof annoying and I wish it wouldn't do that.
My cursor changes shape as expected. |

rubeus,
And what about the latest build (0.8.901)? PS According to KenvinH 0.8.7 has some problems. |

I honestly think both issues mentioned are just quirks of the various underlying Qt5 widgets. Those quirks vary from version to version (and platform to platform). I'm certainly not aware of any Sigil specific code that would cause the treeview widget to behave in the manner described (centering the highlighted item when clicking on items at the extreme edges). I'd be happy to see if the behavior is configurable in any way, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I also suspect that your Mouse pointer theme may interact (because I could have sworn, I saw the Insert 'I' still showing in the scroll bars. Not there today on 8.7)

I believe that this is not actively done in Sigil, but maybe there is an optional parameter or ini(t) to get rid of that annoying self-scrolling book browser.

While you are looking is there any way to KEEP focus in the (book browser) list when doing Merges and deletes. (A bonus would be to move the current 'selection' to the Target or just above the delete) I tend to use the Keyboard and I lose the focus every merge/delete so I can not simply arrow key to the next victim |

Installing Sigil on a different computer does not show up the mouse pointer change ussue so may be thats something with Qt5 and the mouse driver or whatever. As saiud, this si only cosmetic.
But double clicking on a file in the book browser shows the auto scroll issue: the choosen file rushes into the middle of the window if it was at the very top or bottom before. Would really appreciate if this can be solved somehow. I tested this on the 08901 and its still present and it was present before the 087 version i'm using at home. Sorry to say i cant remember when this behaviour starts. |

Hello, I've also noticed the cursor shape in vertical scroll bar trouble from 8.0 to last version.
In "book" mode, the cursor doesnt not change to an arrow in the vertical scroll bar. When in "code"mode, the cursor properly change to an arrow. So, I dont think it is a Qt5 and/or mouse driver problem, as the trouble should not disappear from one display mode to another... bb |

No,
Those are really two different Qt Widgets just inside a Stacked widget. So two different code bases and two different reactions to cursor movement. This is a Qt issue. KevinH |

For those that mention that the behavior is different from earlier versions of Sigil, please also note that the Qt5 version used in Sigil 0.8.901 is different from the Qt5 version used in Sigil 0.8.6/7.

I myself have noticed a bizarre cursor change for calibre -- while using calibre over an SSH tunnel, the pointer cursor is a different theme. Still the pointer cursor, though.
