H2O turn off slide light
Is it possible to disable the light slider in the bottom left hand corner? I read with my left hand turning pages and every now and then it will change the light setting when I am trying to turn a page. I looked through the menus but didn't see any option to turn it off.

Add the code to .kobo\kobo\Kobo eReader.conf, open file with Notepad++.
Code:
[Reading] swipeBrightness=false Edit:swipeBrightness is for Aura, two-finger swipe brightness adjustment. Last edited by oren64; 10-12-2015 at 02:57 AM. Reason: swipeBrightness is for Aura |

After i add swipeBrightness=false to my .conf file, it very unstable, part of the time the swipe brightness is working and it do by itself reboot, so if you have the same problem with you'r Kobo delete the code.

Oh well, I can still hope they put back the slider area closer to the left bezel like it was before. The accidental light adjustments are annoying. |

Yeah it's the only thing I don't like about my kobo, but I rarely read with the light on so it's not a huge deal. Thanks for the help

Adding my vote for this.
I want the light to stay at 1% forever. If it's dark enough that I can't read without the light, it's too dark for 2%. |

In your case, you may be able to just use one of the patches modify all the light settings to 1. Not sure it would work or if you want to play with patching, but it might get you what you're looking for.

Where would I look for the patches you mention? I always read at the same light level and wouldn't mind fixing it to that level. |

Check out the Kobo developers subforum above. Not sure which hack it would be in (don't use it myself, so it may be what you already tried) but there is one that allows changing the light settings (most people would use it to add more settings) and if you instead set them all to the same thing I was thinking it might do what you want.

There is no patch yet that I know of to disable the single-finger swipe brightness adjustment. I've looked because I would like to disable it myself, but I couldn't find how to do it.
When Kobo first introduced this feature is worked very well, it could only be activated by running your finger along very close to the bezel which was something I wouldn't do by accident. Unfortunately they later changed it so that it could be activated quite a long way from the bezel, and as a result it is now quite easy to activate by accident, such as when using a vertical swipe to clean dust from the screen. Edit: BTW I think the swipeBrightness=false config file setting is supposed to be for controlling the Aura's two-finger swipe brightness adjustment, not the single-finger swipe on other devices. However those with a Glo might see swipeBrightness and pinchToZoom in their config file because the last few firmware versions mistake the Glo for the Aura in a few places. Disabling light level changes (including swipe and settings) can be done easily (just remove /dev/ntx_io) but it's only an option for people who want the light to be always-off; otherwise it will stay on in standby too.
