I traded my Samsung SGT4N-7 for a Samsung SGT2S-8 a few weeks ago, and I have looked everywhere for where to turn on and set up the homescreen widget for CC. Anybody have a clue where it's hiding?

Sorry to ask the obvious, but the CC widgets are not shown with the other app widgets?
I have received 1 or 2 reports that widgets stopped working, IIRC after an Android system upgrade. In both cases a CC uninstall / reinstall fixed it. Use CC's backup to save the settings and CC's database, do the uninstall & reinstall, then use CC's restore. Be sure to check the box to restore the database. IMPORTANT: if your books are on an SD card and you are running Android 4.4 (Kitkat) or later then uninstalling CC will delete the books. You can avoid this by moving them to main memory (CC's Settings / Folders and formats), doing the un/reinstall, then moving them back. I would like to see a CC debug log (CC's Settings / Other / Send a debug log to MultiPie) if you could take the time. There might be something in there that would help me avoid problems like this in the future. Erase the Multipie.co.uk address. No need to send it to my son as well as to me. |

Nevermind.....
When all else fails, read the manual. When you see it and happen to be online....
In case anyone else is looking for the widgets: On the homescreen, press an empty spot away from anything else you have on there. It goes into a homescreen "edit mode". Look at the bottom. There are two boxes, one to set wallpaper and one to choose widgets. Tap the widgets box. All available widgets show up. CC has 4 to choose from. Pick the one you like; it will ask how many books. It starts small, but you can adjust the size of the widget by pulling the handles. (Put control/setting of an App widget with App details, on or around App screen, with App manager...? Of course not. ![]() |

It was an Android upgrade 4.4 to 5.1. The library on card did not transfer, as you say, but all I'd read told me Android 4 handled cards poorly. I was in the middle of major library revisions anyway, so I decided to let Android 5 format the card . I sent a new copy of my library from Calibre on PC when I was done with the revisions. Next time I will be sure to backup the settings, too. ![]() |
